Application of Transfer Factor in Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Will Falconer, DVM - "Most of the chronic diseases we commonly see in animals (and humans) have an immune basis, e.g. diabetes, allergies, asthma, thyroid disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, repeated ear infections, cancer, etc. While they can be cured through the careful use of homeopathy, the road to cure can be a long one -- often years if the animal has had years of disease. Transfer factors can significantly shorten the course, by giving a much needed balancing effect to the immune system. If the immune system is overactive as in allergies, ear infections, asthma, diabetes, or hypothyroidism, Transfer Factor can balance this overactivity so the system is not attacking its own organs, overreacting to things that shouldn’t be perceived as a threat. If, conversely, the immune system is under-active as in mange, parasites, viral infections, or cancer, Transfer Factor Plus can clearly stimulate it to better meet the challenges it needs to be alert to."
Dr. Steven Slagle, DVM  - 'A cat with Leukemia, an oral tumor, and posterior paralysis due to a spinal tumor was very ill and emaciated.  One month after starting her on Transfer Factor Plus (human formula) at 1 capsule per day, there was some regression of the oral tumor, restored appetite with some weight gain, and  increased sociability.  Five months later, this cat continues to improve - she regained her normal weight, her oral tumor has regressed 80%, and she has regained the use of her hind legs and tail."   additional testimonials

IMPORTANT NOTE: Many veterinarians recommend the human Transfer Factor formulas, instead of the Canine and Feline Complete formula for their sick animals. In the below testimonials, the veterinarians, medical doctor and pet owner used the human formulas, Transfer Factor, to treat their animals. Dr. Slagle (above) used the human formula to treat the leukemia, paralysed cat. The human formula comes in a small capsule and it is easier to give a sick animal who doesn't want to eat. It is easy to shove the capusle into the throat, or empty the content into the pet's food. Some people mix the powder with a little water and squirt it into the animal's throat with an ear syringe.

Simply stated, transfer factors are tiny molecules that are able to convey immunity information from one entity to another to educate naïve cells about a present or potential danger along with a plan for action. Although the mostly notable function of these smart molecules is to speed up the recognition phase of an infection making the duration of an illness much shorter, transfer factors also have the ability to suppress an over active immune system. All said, transfer factors have the ability to balance out the function of your immune system, whether it needs to increase in function or be reduced in the case of auto-immune disorders.

Richard H. Bennett, Ph.D - "For decades, the approach to maintaining healthy animals was to wait for signs and symptoms of disease to occur and to counter the challenge with an array of drugs which were toxic for the disease causing agent.  This approach is now being questioned as the armada of drugs is diminishing due to multiple drug resistant pathogens.  Compounding this alarming trend is the current approach to health maintenance which assumes that "all is well" until actual disease processes begin. By this time, the disease is established, sometimes irreversibly, and the damage has occurred.  So the questions arises...What if a new paradigm existed?  Could it be possible to optimize the immune status of animals so that (1) disease is much less likely to occur and (2) if disease does occur, it's severity and duration is minimized?  The answer is YES and this paradigm shift is being engineered by small, naturally occuring protein-like molecules called TRANSFER FACTORS." Dr. Richard Bennett holds a doctorate in Comparatie Pathology from the University of California, Davis.  His work in this area includes basic and applied research in infectious disease microbiology and immunology.  read the testimonials from veterinarians who use Transfer Factor in their practice and cancer cases

Vaccinations may even contribute to premature death in animals whose immune systems were already compromised, some veterinarians believe. "I had two situations where we had spent a long time building up two older, severely immunocompromised dogs, and then their owners had them vaccinated for just about everything known to man," recalled Dr. Carvel Tiekert, executive director and founder of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association headquartered in Bel Air, Maryland. "Both of those dogs died within about a month of vaccination. Can we prove a cause and effect? No. Do I think there was a cause and effect? Yes." more on vaccination issue

Question to Dr. Falconer: does vaccination (or over-vaccination) causes overactive immune reaction (autoimmune disorder) or does it cause suppression of the immune system?
Dr. Will Falconer: "The answer is YES.  Probably both.  I think the main thing is, vaccination *confuses* the immune system, as I point out in my heartworm eBook. So, it could go either way, or alternate over time between the two. Transfer Factor should be given before and immediately after vaccination for at least a few weeks to help ameliorate the confusion (when someone is faced with a mandatory vaccination, or has decided they want to give one).  By priming the immune system with Transfer Factor, the immune intelligence should be less confused, though I'm not sure that's measurable."  Read Dr. Falconer's comment on using Transfer Factor Plus for tumors in a dog's ear

Deadly, Contagious Dog Flu Virus
Dr. Cynda Crawford, an immunologist at the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine who is studying the virus, said that it spread most easily where dogs were housed together but that it could also be passed on the street, in dog runs or even by a human transferring it from one dog to another. Kennel workers have carried the virus home with them.

Dogs, Distemper, and Transfer Factor Plus
By Dr. Baruch Rosen, M.D.

As a physician of nearly thirty years, I was well aware that no antibiotic would protect against the ravages of viral disease, particularly canine distemper which shows similarities to HIV.  My seven month old white haired Shepard was adopted from a local shelter and was initially joyful and healthy.  Within three weeks he developed coarse bronchitis with heavy mucus drainage of the nose and eyes.  Our well intentioned vet believed the problem to be kennel cough and started antibiotics.  Over the next ten days Romeo failed to improve, but instead experienced seven hard and long grand mall seizures in one weekend, a partial paralysis of the hind quarters which made him fall flat when attempting to walk and a "spaced-out gaze" of non-recognition.  Blood studies confirmed distemper and showed a white cell count (lymphocytes) of only 264 slightly more than ten percent of normal. Our vet plus a second out-of-state consulting vet, an expert in distemper were very sympathetic and advised me to prepare myself to euthanize Romeo.

The heartache was compounded when Chico, my thirteen month old Chihuahua developed similar symptoms of hard coughing and heavy mucus drainage from the eyes.  Reviewing his shot record, I learned he was mistakenly given only one distemper immunization, leaving him inadequately protected; and by licking Romeo's mucus and drinking from his water dish had contracted the infection.

Knowing little to nothing about canine distemper, I turned to the internet and luckily stumbled on to Transfer Factor Plus, a preparation which enhances and stimulates the body's own immune system to fight against all pathogens, viral or otherwise.  My thirty years in medicine told me this was the only solution.  I hurriedly became a distributor to get the product and started Chico and Romeo on one cap daily encased in one teaspoonful of raw hamburger.  Over the next two weeks all cough and mucus drainage ceased. Romeo's follow-up blood count had risen to normal range at 2217 and he surprised to whole family by jumping a five foot wall.  He romps and plays all day long with Chico, now responds normally to his name and appears to be his old joyful self again.

Having witnessed the recoveries of Chico and Romeo, and after further study, all family members are taking Transfer Factor Plus™, one cap daily; our insurance policy to protect against a faltering immune system, the inevitable consequence of aging and exposure to environmental pollution and toxins.  As for my distributorship status, I fully intend to spread the word to all my colleagues and good friends. Dr. Baruch Rosen, M.D.

Dog's recover from Auto Immune Haemolytic Anaemia (AIHA)

My dog Arnie had been given up on by the vet. He had acute anaemia, a disease characterized by increased destruction of red blood cells (erythrocytes) by the dog's own immune system, and quite honestly we were making arrangements for his funeral. After one week on Transfer Factor Classic we noticed a dramatic improvement. Three months later,  after finishing the entire course, Arnie is doing so well that he no longer needs Transfer Factor . He now has so much energy on his new diet (James welbeloved) that we have to restrict his intake or we could be pulling him off the ceiling. He is putting on weight steadily as is his partner Heidi, She has been on Transfer Factor also and it has cured her scaly flaky skin condition on her back. Dave Burrows in Eastbourne, United Kingdom slartibartfast@2cuk.co.uk

Note: in most of the testimonials, the veterinarians, medical doctor and pet owner used the human formula, Transfer Factor or Transfer Factor Plus, to treat these animals. (They did not use the canine or feline complete formulas) (diffrerence between TF and TF+)

Here's another testimonial of a dog cured of AIHA

Infected Anal Glands and Bleeding Nose Scab

My German Shepherd 9 y.o desexed female, Jeska, was suffering from recurring anal gland infections (blood, pus etc.).  I did not want her to have to go through having them surgically removed.  She suffers terribly when she has anaesthetics and I want to avoid that.  She is fed raw chicken necks, wings, beef marrowbones, chicken mince, rabbit mince, raw minced vegetables, raw egg yolks,  flaxseed oil, yogurt, raw linseed powder with ground nuts, cooked brown rice.

After taking Transfer Factor Plus for a couple of months, the  vet checked her anal glands and the infection was gone. After all the months of agonising as to whether I should take the advice from the vet. to have her anal glands removed, I am just so relieved and grateful that her anal glands are healthy again.

Also, ever since I brought Jeska home from the dog rescue kennels, at the approximate age of 10 months, her nose has been a huge concern  as the pigment had crusted and peeled and her nose would also bleed very easily in the raw areas.  It has been a constant battle to try to prevent her nose from drying out and crusting by applying products like Vitamin E etc., bu only with only moderate success.  Since giving Jeska the Transfer Factor Plus, her nose has regained all the black pigment and is now looking healthy and smooth.

Poodle with Degenerative Disk Disease - My poodle, Sydney, was experiencing excruciating and continuous neck and back pain which the Veterinarian diagnosed as Degenerative Disk Disease. Consequently, the Vet prescribed an anti-inflammatory (steroids) and pain medication.   Knowing that steroids have very bad side effects and were nota cure, I searched for an alternative to "modern" medicine. (danger of steroids)

I discovered 4Life Transfer Factor Advance Formula which I hoped would at least help Sydney's auto-immune problem.  Once I received my first shipment of 4Life Transfer Factor products I began to safely wean Sydney off the steroids.  Within 4 days of taking the 4Life Transfer Factor, minimal steroids and NO pain medication, Sydney appeared to experience no discomfort and ease of mobility.  I have continued administering 4Life Factor Advanced Formula with no steroids or pain medication.  During his first week on this "new" treatment", he ran and played like a puppy without pain. Today, he continues to be very mobile, frisky, and seemingly pain free.

My wife and I believe that his disease is due to excessive in-breeding and more importantly over vaccination.  We have since ceased his Veterinarian prescribed heart worm medication, provided an alternative heart worm therapy (Parasite Dr.), and continued administering 4Life Transfer Factor Advanced Formula.  ( Danger of heart worm medication )

Noticing Sydney's success, I began taking Transfer Factor Advanced Formula for my psoriasis. Whether my auto-immune system was compromised as a child with vaccinations, I do not know.  However, I do know that the evidence of psoriasis has greatly diminished.  I now plan to increase my dosage. I believe, 4Life Transfer Factor products accompanied with a healthy lifestyle has changed my dog's and my health.  Houston Ham (850) 245-8527   email:  hham *@* hcsmail.com

Feline Leukemia

"My cat was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia and the vet considered euthanasia. - Nefret was about 8 weeks old when I found her.  I was going to work and looked over into my neighbors driveway and saw what I thought was a baby rabbit...all ears.   The animal got up and started to wobble down the driveway and I realized it was a kitten.  I went over to investigate and found a VERY sick kitten.  I took her into the house and gave my daughter instructions on how to care for her until I got home.  I made a vet appt. for that afternoon.  The vet examined her.  She was severely dehydrated, malnourished, had a major case of hookworms, diarrhea,  and a severe respiratory infection.  She also tested positive for feline leukemia.  The vet suggested, at that point,  to consider euthanasia.  We didn't opt for that and were sent home with an antibiotic and a kitten kit.
Nefret was on the antibiotic for 10 days and was still snotty and sneezing.  We were given a second course of the same antibiotic.  About 5 days into the second course, I came home to find her fairly unresponsive and very warm.  I immediately called the vet and was given the euthanasia option again and was told this was fairly typical of  cats testing positive for feline leukemia.  I asked for a stronger antibiotic instead, said a prayer and went on the net to do some research on alternatives to traditional treatment for this disease.  I read about the 4 Life Transfer Factor.  I ordered and had the transfer factor overnighted.

Nefret received a dose with her morning food and again in the evening.  Her response was amazing.  Within two days she was acting like a normal, wild and wonderful kitten.   She is a little over six months old now.  She was spayed about 5 weeks ago and had a full blood work-up done at that time.  Her blood work came back absolutely normal. The vet was amazed and  couldn't believe that this was the same kitten.  She continues to receive her 4 Life supplement just with her morning food and I will continue that for her lifetime.   I now have a bundle of pure energy and joy in my life". Libby McCourt, - Winchester, Virginia

The Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency viruses cause the immune system in the cat to become severely compromised.  In many cases, it doesn't function well enough to prevent or overcome illness and disease.  I have been looking for something that I can give sick FeLV+ cats to enhance their immune systems and improve their chances of maintaining good health and fighting illness.  In my search, I found the Transfer Factor™ products.  I believe that these products, which are a new and completely different approach to enhancing the immune system, will be effective and beneficial to the health and recovery of any sick cat, not just a sick positive cat, and will help maintain immune system efficiency in chronically ill cats."Eileen J. Poole Animal Care Specialist and Feline Consultant  specializing in the care of FeLV+, FIV+ and chronically ill cats.

Paralyzed dog recoverd use of hind legs

"I must say before I received the Transfer Factor Plus, I was really anxious and I would afraid that my Ridgeback dog, Linkin, would give up.  As soon as the package arrived from England I started giving Linkin 2 tablets a day for the first 3 weeks.

He has improved in leaps and bounds and it is hard to believe that some 4 weeks ago he could not walk by himself and could hardly move around at all.  I had to carry his hind legs with a towel around his waist otherwise he just could not get around.

After two weeks on Transfer Factor Plus, he started trying to get up onto his hind legs.  It was difficult and heart breaking to see him struggle but he was trying.  After four weeks on TF+, he managed to walk around even though he lost his balance and he hind legs would give way.

He is now walking and running around, although still a little wobbly, and he also tries to jump but does not always succeed.  It is absolutely fantastic to see the improvement from week to week."  Antoinette Kean,  South Africa

"My family has an 11-year old German Shephard mix that spent six days in a traditional vet's office because he could not walk anymore. After the Transfer Factor and flaxseed oil,  this dog is now  walking, frisky and in good spirits." Richard English

"My dog, Freckles,  has been on the Transfer Factor for about a month now. WOW! I love this product. She was limping before TF because of the rod that is in her hip. I couldn'd understand because I was feeding her raw food, pure water, and herbal supplements. Shortly after taking TF, I noticed that she doesn't limp at all. I have increased her walks from 30 minutes to 45-60 minutes and she runs the entire time and seems to have a abundance of energy. My main reason for giving her TF was to build her immune system to help fight off heartworm and fleas and ticks since I had decided to put those drugs in her body. She is even healthier now. My sister commented last week that Freckles looks so healthy. Since giving her the TF, I have also included Barleans's flax seed oil for animals, added clay to her water and food and a little sea salt to her water. She is a picture of health. I think she's surpassed me :). Thanks for all your help! Freckles thanks you also." Crystal Dunlap cdunlap@DDS.CA.GOV.

Jan. 8 to Aug  2003 -  The testimony about Sambo our cat - (born July 1985) - We can hardly believe the recovery Sambo is making.  As of last July he had lost 10 pounds (he had been 16 #) could hardly get up and down the stairs, slept a lot and dumped around. Walked like he was 100 yrs. old and we were sure we were going to loose him. He wasn't eating very much either.  He slowly was getting worse and worse.  He was so skinny and his fur got matted and terrible and then he started pulling his fur out - completely on both sides of his body.  It was an area 2" long and full length of his body and on both sides. We never took him to the vet because we thought he was just getting old and we would just have to accept the fact that we won't have him very much longer.

We had just heard about Transfer Factor (basic) and we thought if it helps humans, maybe it will help our kitty.  We thought maybe Transfer Factor would at least make him feel better and we started giving him 1-capsule of Transfer Factor on Jan. 8, 2003 (which was the first day Wayne came to our home to have a meeting for some of our friends to introduce them to Transfer Factor - which was new to us too!).

Right away we could tell that Sambo was getting better and so on Jan. 15, 2003  we increased the dose to 2 capsules a day.   His speedy recovery was hard to believe. He had regained 1/2 lb. by Jan. 18th and his fur was growing back on both sides and the rest of his fur was looking much better too. It had become very matted and ugly.  Energy?  He is bouncing up and down the stairs, up and down from the bathroom sink ( he loves to drink the running water but hadn't been able to make the jump for months) and hardly lays down for naps.  Previously, he had been sleeping a lot.  Once again he is following Neil everywhere as he had done for so many years, he was like our 'young' Sambo again and we knew he was going to be fine!!

It is now Oct  2003 and he is still doing very, very good.  Has a good appetite, has energy, doesn't sleep very much in the daytime as we would expect an old cat to do and has a lovely new fur coat.  At this point, we decided to try the Feline formula instead of the TF human formula.

Update Dec. 19, 2003. We had to stop giving our cat the Feline Complete formula because Sambo started going down the hill and loosing weight. The Feline Formula did not agree with him. After we resumed giving him Transfer Factor Plus (human formula) Sambo started doing very well again  We are going to get to enjoy our pet longer which pleases us very, very much.. Neil and Patty Trammell

Dr. Sam Jones, DVM - Two cats, both about 8 years old, had severe diabetes.  It was impossible to get the insulin requirements adjusted.  They had lost weight to a point that they were skin and bones.  Both cats had no quality of life left.  After one week of being on Transfer Factor™, we were able to get their insulin requirements adjusted.  It is now six months later and they have both  regained their weight, and have a great quality of life and health.

My Siamese cat has severe deterioration in her back legs.  I had taken her to three veterinarians but they couldn't help her.  It got to the point that she couldn't walk.  After taking 3 capsules of Transfer Factor™ a day, she rarely falls down at all, and she is so much healthier and happier.  Donna Hendricks

I have an 11 year-old dog, a Bichon Frise who has had congenital kidney problems.  Two surgeries for bladder stones, being on a urine acidifier for 10 years to keep the infections down, and I had to monitor her urine daily with a urinalysis dip test.  She has been on TF-Pets Canine Formula for two months and she now is off all of her medicine except TF-Pets.  My vet can hardly believe it, but he is now carrying the product in his clinic. Bonnie Lee

In March of 99, my dog Chelsea was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer that was detected by the removal of a tumor from her tonsil. The vet held out little hope for her survival and suggested chemo or radiation therapy. Being a strong believer in natural and alternative medicine, I instead started Chelsea on a regimen of herbs. To the vet’s amazement, Chelsea seemed to make a full recovery. In December of 99 another tumor was removed from her throat. The cancer was back.

When I heard of TF-Pets Canine in August, I put her on it right away and stopped giving her the herbs. Within a week, I noticed a significant improvement. Now, after only 2 months her coat again is soft and shiny, her eyes sparkle and dance and she has so much energy and joy in life. I am so grateful to 4-Life and am now giving hope to others who had lost it.  Nancy M.

"I find that Transfer Factor works really well when applied directly on a tumor. I mix the content of a capsule with a little bit of PURE  water to make a thin paste. I gently apply that paste directly on the tumor once or twice a day, in conjunction with taking one capsule by mouth AM and PM, on an empty stomach,if possible. It can also be gently rubbed under the armpit to be absorbed by the skin. For those who cannot swallow the capsules, the content can be mixed with a SMALL AMOUNT of juice or water or simply rubb it under the armpit." Pat Hartman

Parvo/Distemper/Pigeon Fever "My dog was very ill with parvo/distemper and I spent $1600 to hospitalize her. They kept saying she was going to die. Transfer Factor Stress Pack is the only thing that has helped her get back on her feet. - Within a few hours after I gave her the Transfer Factor her diarrhea and vomiting stopped and she was able to sit up again and watched TV with me at home where she belongs! The Animal Stress packs also helped speed the healing of my horse's Pigeon Fever" Kelly Godwin

Puppies pneamonia, e-coli and staph "A little over 2 years ago I bought a 4 year old Cocker Spaniel, she has had only 1 live puppy out of 3 litters.  After taking one of the puppies to the vet for an autopsy we found out her puppies were born with pneamonia, loaded with e-coli and staph (mom's uterus was infected).  Her puppies would be born alive and normal weight but start to die over the first 48 hours. To back up a bit... we put her on clavamox from the vet for 10 days after the 2nd litter.  She then had her 3rd litter, which is when we did the autopsy, and put her on clavamox for 2 weeks.  On this last heat cycle we tried it again, my vet said she was such a nice Cocker she didn't see any reasoning to spay her and discontinue trying to breed her (this was our last attempt at breeding her, if no healthy babies we were going to spay her). Two weeks before her delivery date we put her on Transfer Factor Plus 1 pill a day, we will keep her on Transfer Factor Plus until the puppies are 2 weeks of age.  She has 3 strong and healthy babies, all are doing well.  Momma is healthier than ever and also doing very well. I am just THRILLED! Michelle Mollman

Nasal Tumor - "My cat Bodger, who is now 16 years old,  has been taking the Transfer Factors Advanced Plus for nearly 18 months.  I've taken him back to the vet practice for a check up.  He still has some discharge from the right side, but no blood and is generally in good health.  I saw a different vet this time and he told me there was no way my cat had a nasal tumor of the type diagnosed back in August 2004, because if he had, he'd be dead due to the agressive nature of these type of tumor!  He reckons he has sinusitus, due to the previous nasal damage as a kitten, which I always knew he had, but definately NO TUMOR!  So, what can I say but a fantastic result and thank you so much for the info all that time ago.  You are very welcome to include this on your website if it will help others to help their pets.  Incidentaly, the vet took all the information on Transfer Factors and was really interested having seen Bodger today."  Judith Sexton

Many veterinarians around the world use the human formula, Transfer Factor or Transfer Factor Plus. because it is more potent and easier to administer to a very sick animal. In the above testimonials,  the veterinarians, medical doctor and pet owner used the human formula, Transfer Factor or Transfer Factor Plus, to treat their sick animals (not the canine or felinecomplete formulas).

Some of the veterinary conditions that Dr. Timothey Couzens DVM has been treating with the human formulas Transfer Factor (TF)  and Transfer Factor Plus (TF+) are:

- various forms of anaemia, especially autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (TF)
- nail bed infections (TF+)
- overactive thyroid in elderly cats (TF)
- anal ferunculosis in a dog (TF+)
- chronic mange (TF+)
- fatigue in an elderly donkey who now has a new lease of life!
- liver/kidney failure/weakness (TF+)
- interdigital cysts/blisters in a dog (TF)

Other vets here in Europe, using the human formulas of TF and TF+  have had success with:
- coryza in cats (TF+)
- bone marrow cancer (TF+)
- oral tumours in cats (TF+)
- FeLV/FVR/FIV in cats (TF+)

Personally I find it is easier to give the content of a small capsule of high potency of Transfer Factor or Transfer Factor Plus, to very sick dog or cat, especially if they have difficulty eating or if they have a sensitive stomach. The canine or felinecomplete formulas contain yeast and some dogs have a sensitivity to yeast which may give them the run. My dog Shasta (65 pounds) was sensitive to yeast. I gave her the Transfer Factor Plus (human formula) which I think is a more potent immune booster. I started by giving her one capsule of TF+ a day (I shoved a capsule in her mouth or mixed it in her food) for 3 consecutive days. As she did well on one capsule, I increased the dosage to 2 capusles a day (one morning and one evening). A few weeks later, as she had recovered her health, I decreased the dosage to one capsule a day as a maintenance dosage.  Shirley

The difference between Transfer Factor (Classic) and Transfer Factor Plus (adv. formula)

Immune system disorders fall into two broad categories:

  1. Immunodeficiency - when the immune system does not recognize invaders as being undesirable and therefore does not mobilize to destroy them.
  2. Autoimmunity (self-destruction) - when the immune system fails to recognize 'self' as friendly and mounts an attack on itself." Explaining Autoimmune Disease by David Isenberg, PhD and John Morrow, PhD
Duane Townsend, MD - "Transfer Factor Classic helps to modulate the immune system." (autoimmunity - over-active immune system)

Baruch Rosen MD - "Transfer Factor Plus Advanced formula, a preparation which enhances and stimulates the body's own immune system to fight against all pathogens, viral or otherwise."  (Immunodeficiency - underactive immune system)

How to order Transfer Factor

Directions for giving the human formula Transfer Factor to animals, as suggested by veterinarians at the 4Life Company:

Transfer Factor Classic and Transfer Factor Advanced Formula  Canine, feline and other animals dosages Transfer Factor™

1 to 25 lb.       1- 4 daily
26 to 50 lb.      2-3 daily
51 to 100 lb.    3-4 daily
100+ lb.          4-6 daily

Transfer Factor PLUS Advanced Formula Canine, feline and other animals dosages Transfer Factor Plus™

1 to 25 lb.       1- 2 daily
26 to 50 lb.      2-3 daily
51 to 100 lb.    3-4 daily
100+ lb.         4-6 daily

Note: Some veterinarians start animals on a small amount of Transfer Factor Plus for 3 consecutive days and increase the dose gradually. The content of the capsule can be mixed with pet food or treats (sardines, cheese, etc.) Some pet owners find it easier to shove a capsule in the pet's throat or to mix the content in a little broth and use a syringe to inject the product into the animal's mouth. Although Transfer Factor and Transfer Factor Plus™  are best given throughout the day, satisfactory results have been obtained by giving the dose once a day. The 4Life company recommends to double or triple these amounts if the animal is ill in order to increase the efficiency of the immune system further. There is no report of overdosing on TF or TF Plus even when consuming massive amounts.

Five years ago, when Dr. Burlingame started using Transfer Factor and Transfer Factor Plus™ in his veterinary practice, he didn’t always get the results he hoped for. Since then, he says, he’s discovered that for maximum benefit, Transfer Factor needs to be started early and at high enough doses.  “It’s a numbers game when you’re dealing with bacteria and viruses,” he says. It is crucial to get high enough numbers of transfer factors into the system to combat the high levels of bacteria or viruses. Recently, Dr. Burlingame had a four-month-old puppy come into to his clinic. The puppy had bloody diarrhea and all the symptoms of parvovirus. In addition to the typical antibiotics, antiemetics, and IV fluids, he gave the puppy 1,400 mgs per day of Transfer Factor (supplement facts). The puppy was home in three days. “I wish I had this a long time ago,” he says.  According to Dr. Burlingame, Transfer Factor usually takes about 48 to 72 hours to educate the immune system. He looks for a regression in symptoms, particularly in the case of infections, within the first 48 to 72 hours. He says he will often see an improvement or increase in white blood cell counts in that time frame as well. And, overall, the patient will begin to feel and therefore act better. Excerpt from the the Whole Dog Journal

Dosage for birds "I have two pigeons. I just returned from Germany where there was an international show for pigeons. One of my birds became very ill. Its droppings became very watery and green. I decided to try to Transfer Factor™. WOW! The pigeon was up and running around like a spring chic." — Layne Bowles

Caged Birds -- (as suggested by Dr. Falconer DVM ) "Use Transfer Factor animal stress pack. Mix 1 level tsp./ 2 oz. (5T.) water. Give as drinking water. For larger amounts (pigeons, poultry, etc.) mix 1 to 2 oz. (1/2 to 1 packet) Stress Pack with 1 gallon of drinking water. Change water daily and give 7-14 days. This would be useful in any infectious diseases and is intended for use in short term (max 14 days) only. I also use the animal stress pack when I want to get high levels of the TF in someone right away. It's very soluble and tasty in this form. For longer term use, say in liver disease or tumors, I'd graduate to the Transfer Factor Plus, guestimating the dosage based on bodyweight from the cat dose."

These products have absolutely no toxicity or side effects even at mega doses. You may increase the amounts even further to achieve the desired level of immune efficiency.

Mange  - Many normal dogs carry the mange parasite. Holistic veterinarians believe that it becomes a problem and spreads through the skin when there are immune problems, inherited skin defects or illness for other reasons. Holistic treatments aim to improve the general health, particularly the immune system, and to homeopathically treat the inherited factors.

Dr. Will Falconer DVM - "Demodectic mange mites are common flora in man and animals. Reread that if you think this is a typo, because it’s a fact: we all have demodectic mites as residents on our skin. Why aren’t we all itchy and broken out with eruptions? Only one reason: the immune system keeps these parasites in check. So, when a dog is diagnosed with demodectic mange, and he’s got crusty patches around his face or toes or all over, what that means, first and foremost, is that his immune system needs help! Unfortunately, the common treatment is to dip the affected dogs in very toxic chemicals to kill the mites. So toxic, in fact, that the personnel dipping the dog wear rubber gloves and aprons! This has never made sense to me, as we know poisons have a clearly detrimental effect on the immune system. Wouldn’t it make more sense to strengthen the immune system and thereby get the normal flora of mites back in control? It can be done, and Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula would be the best course, along with Canine Complete. For the average 40 - 60 lb dog, I’d start with Animal Stress Pack  at recommended doses for two weeks. Then, follow this with Canine Complete at label doses and add the Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula at two capsules twice a day. To discourage mites topically, paint on lavender essential oil, diluted 1:10 with almond oil. This can be applied twice a day. Be sure to avoid the eyes, however. You’ll need to give this regimen time, from at least a few weeks to a few months. And, again, don’t short change nutrition, avoid vaccines, and work with your homeopathic veterinarian to improve health and cure the underlying illness that allowed the immune system to get so sluggish.".

"I adopted my dog Jojo a few yeals ago. He was 13 at the time and about to go to the pound because his previous owner was moving and couldn't keep him. When he came to me he was showing signs of age. He had a hard time walking and his eyesight and hearing were a bit impaired. Eventually, he came to a point where he would no longer eat. This went on for seven days. He would find a secluded corner and sleep most of the time. I felt like he was just miserable, hardly alive and going downhill fast. As each day passedI would watch him get a little worse. I finally made the heartbreaking decision to take him to the vet and have him put to sleep. Someone told me about the Marine PhytoPlankton and I decided to try it on Jojo as a last resort.  I started giving him a small amount of a marine phytoplankton tonic with his evening meal. In two months, Jojo made a complete recovery. I used to have to wake him up when I got home from work. Now Jojo greets me at the door barking and wagging his tail' His eyesight and hearing have also improved - he seems more aware of his sunoundings and is playful and attentive. I don't think he would be in such good health if it weren't for adding marine phytoplankton tonic to his diet. It has literally made the difference for him. My son has dubbed it Jojo's go-go juice. I am grateful for this product for bringing our family pet back to health." Dan R.

Dr. Jerry Tennant, M.D. says that marine phytoplankton contains almost everything one needs to sustain life and to restore health by providing the raw materials to make new cells that function normally. Marine phytoplankton has been called "the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet". Containing a wide range of trace elements, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, enzymes and cellular materials, marine phytoplankton promotes and maintains optimum health by boosting and supporting all systems within the body. Its antioxidants and unique polysaccharides can halt the genetic mutations that can lead to cancer. Both high levels of saccharides and adaptogens increase energy and stamina by improving our ability to consume and use oxygen. Adaptogens also improve cardiovascular health by strengthening the heart and circulation.  more about marine phytoplankton's healing power

Question: Would Transfer Factor help in this case?

Dr. Falconer DVM: Yes, the Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula would be helpful, and with homeopathy and that, surgery could be avoided.  They can look for a qualified homeopath near them at www.theavh.org.  If not, I could work with them by phone, but not for a couple of weeks. It's really amazing to me the way people lock onto the "emergency" need -- got to do this right now!  And only see one option.  Such is the world, I guess.  Fear drives most of conventional medicine.  Good luck getting a word in on natural methods. I'd dose the Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula, at 2 capsules twice a day, and after a week, take it to 3 capsules twice a day.  Should be not averse effects whatsoever, and could only help.  They should give it a month, as this is very chronic.  If they work with a homeopath, it'll be somewhat faster.  And they'll learn not to vaccinate this poor devil, which may have a big role in causing these polyps.

Question: What do you recommend for a 3 year old dog with advanced osteosarcoma?  (bone cancer)

Dr. Falconer DVM:"The products I'd recommend for his situation are the following: Transfer Factor animal stress pack  (can only be used for up to 14 days), Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula and Choice Prime. The regimen for him would be to start the Transfer Factor animal stress pack according to label instructions, and, after a few days on this, I'd add in the TF Plus at 2 twice a day. The Choice Prime is a very potent antioxidant that's had some anticancer effects.  Dose him at 1 twice a day, right from the beginning, and stay with that dose.  Should also help with pain"

Deadly, Contagious Dog Flu Virus
Question: Can Transfer Factor Plus offer an effective means of staving off the Canine Flu disease?

Dr. Falconer DVM: Absolutely!  If the immune system is primed, it doesn't matter what one is exposed to in terms of infectious agents.  They will be seen as foreigners.  Best strategy is to prime the immune system *beforehand* though -- much less effect trying to treat ones already ill. To treat diarrhea, whether it's caused by parvo, this so-called flu, e.coli, or whatever, the Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula shines.  Pediatrician Dr. Markowitz M.D., told how it saved children with acute diarrhea who were very seriously ill with the Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula. This is off label use, but illustrates the point. Anyone facing infectious diarrhea in any species should be armed with this!  Can't be overemphasized -- this will save lives.

Question: My rabbit had uterine cancer removed 2 years ago. Was ok for 2 years. And recently had another tumor removed which had broken through the skin. The vet told me he had the tumor tested, and that the cancer had reached the outer edges. And so has probably begun to form in other areas, of the rabbits body. So this seems like the best time. To try Transfer Factor. But- rabbits are really delicate digestive systems. What is your Opinion on this?

Dr. Falconer DVM: You are very right about this species having it's digestive issues. We learned that antibiotics can really harm these creatures. The beauty of the Transfer Factor products is that they do not upset balance anywhere in the body, but greatly aid in the restoration of same, especially in the immune system. The safest bet would be to start with the plain Transfer Factor Advanced Formula  which is only the colostrum and egg yolk derived Transfer Factor. Once on that for a couple of weeks, say at 1 cap twice a day, I wouldn't hesitate to add some of the Transfer Factor Plus Advanced Formula to the equation, say at one cap per day. If that's well tolerated, I might consider giving 1twice a day after a couple of weeks, in addition to the Transfer Factor Advanced at the same dose.

Question: Can Transfer Factor be used with Steroids?

Dr. Falconer DVM: You can certainly use TF products with steroids.  It's not a matter of the TF interfering with the steroids, rather the other way around, as the steroids are potent immune suppressors.  As we've had some success with EPM in the horse with TF Performance and Show, I think it's a great idea to try it on this horse, even though they didn't confirm the diagnosis.

    SUPPORT

Rob Robertson, M.D. - "Nearly everything that goes wrong with us and our pets, with the exception of trauma - i.e. broken bones, etc., can be traced directly to an immune system failure".  Pollution, drug overload and nutrient-poor diets compromise our immune health. The key to self-healing is a strong defense system, which protects dogs and cats from everything from the flu germs to cancer cells.  More than their mainstream counterparts, holistic veterinarians believe that a weak immune system plays a key role in causing disease.  Drugs aren't the answer for immune enhancement. The immune system is not responsive to drugs for healing. Antibiotics fight infection, but they don't affect whatever weakened the immune system in the first place.  This is why holistic veterinarians focus less on things that cause diseases and more on those that affect the body's defenses."
