The
Rabies Challenge Study
Many vets and many of the worlds’ leading veterinary experts and researchers
indicate that pets are being over vaccinated but the laws require us to
continue doing it because there are no US rabies vaccine studies done per
US government standards to prove without any doubt that revaccination is
not necessary. Our government has allowed pharmaceutical companies to give
arbitrary rabies revaccination guidelines without proving how long their
product is effective.
World-renown vaccine research scientist and practicing veterinarian,
Dr. W. Jean Dodds of California, and pet vaccine disclosure advocate, Kris
L. Christine of Maine, have established The Rabies Challenge Fund to raise
money to fund a 7 year rabies vaccine challenge study in the United States.
Many dog caregivers across the country are becoming more and more aware
of the possibility that over vaccination can have harmful effects on dogs
- and the rabies vaccine is no exception. The incidence of rabies exposure
in companion animals and humans, though very low today, still remains a
distinct possibility. Consequently, the Federal and state governments require
every dog to be vaccinated triennially (still even annually or biannually
in a few states) against rabies. However, the veterinary community is increasingly
concerned that rabies vaccination given this frequently is not only unnecessary
but also responsible for inducing adverse reactions that lead to both acute
and chronic immunological and other disorders. Although a French medical
study completed in 1992 showed that rabies vaccine is protective for at
least five years, Federal and state legislatures have not accepted this
finding. Thus, the health and well-being of millions of dogs in the United
States remain threatened by the potential for adverse vaccinal events.
Dr. Ronald Schultz of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary
Medicine, will be conducting the rabies challenge studies. Dr. Schultz
has been performing challenge studies on canine vaccines since the mid-1970's,
and his data formed the scientific base for the American Animal Hospital
Association's 2003 Canine Vaccine Guidelines. He is set to
begin the rabies challenge studies as soon as the fund can raise the first
year's budget of $177,000. The University of Wisconsin is waiving
its overhead charges for these studies. The only expenses coming
out of the pre-grant funds are those for filing annual returns with IRS
-- there are no salaried officers, building costs, etc... Except for IRS
fees, all the money donated to The Rabies Challenge Fund will go directly
to funding these studies.

Dee
Blanco, D.V.M - "You take healthy animals and often very quickly after
you vaccinate, you can see simple things like itching of the skin
or excessive licking of the paws, sometimes even with no eruptions
and licking of the air. We see a lot of epilepsy/seizure,
often after a rabies vaccination. Or dogs or cats can become aggressive
for several days. Frequently, you'll see urinary tract infections
in cats, often within three months after their [annual] vaccination. If
you step back, open your mind and heart, you'll start to see patterns of
illness post-vaccination." Dee

Vaccinations may even contribute to premature death in animals whose
immune
systems were already compromised, some veterinarians believe. "I had
two situations where we had spent a long time building up two older, severely
immunocompromised dogs, and then their owners had them vaccinated for just
about everything known to man," recalled Dr. Carvel Tiekert, executive
director and founder of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association
headquartered in Bel Air, Maryland. "Both of those dogs died within about
a month of vaccination. Can we prove a cause and effect? No. Do I think
there was a cause and effect? Yes." more
The
Pet Wellness has been successful in getting the Texas Department of
Health Services to propose a rule change. It will be published for public
comment in October. In the meantime, we must truly marshal our forces to
counteract what is surely to be a nasty fight. There is so much myth and
misinformation surrounding rabies in companion animals. Our laws are at
least 20 years behind our knowledge of vaccinology. Please help us
get wider awareness of the proposed rule change and the need for people
to speak out on the need for reform in rabies laws, starting with an exemption
for sick and senior pets.
TWO VACCINE PETITIONS:
Rabies is the only vaccine that is mandated by law, yet lawmakers do
not understand how vaccines work and that "more" (i.e. yearly) is not better
and can actually be harmful to pets. Anti dog legislation is rampant
in this country, and the only way to stop it is for ALL pet owners to band
together and contact legislators, both local and outside their area.
These laws spread like wildfire to other areas once passed, and none of
us (i.e. our animals) is safe. Please phone, fax or email your opposition
to public officials. Changing the law in Kansas (and then Alabama,
Tennessee, Arkansas etc) could stop similar laws from being implemented
in your city/state. Joint

Prevaccination Protection
Dr. Falconer DVM - "The goal is to have
an immune system that can defend the animal against exposure to parvo,
canine or feline distemper, kennel cough, FeLV, strangles, flu, Rhino,
etc. If you opt to have the strongest immune system possible without the
risks that vaccines confer, use the preventative program that keeps the
immune system strong safely and efficaciously, and without risk to the
animal. That, in my opinion, is daily dosing with the Animal Health
supplements utilizing Transfer
Factor products coupled with excellent nutrition,
should be adequate protection to get your animal out in the real world,
benefitting from natural exposure to viruses and bacteria that can make
the immune system stronger. "
Question
to Dr. Falconer: does vaccination (or over-vaccination) causes overactive
immune reaction (autoimmune disorder) or does it cause suppression of the
immune system?
Dr.
Will Falconer D.V.M: "The answer is YES. Probably both.
Vaccination *confuses* the immune system, as I point out in my heartworm
eBook. So, it could go either way, or alternate over time between the
two. Transfer
Factor should be given before and immediately after vaccination for
at least a few weeks to help ameliorate the confusion (when someone is
faced with a mandatory vaccination, or has decided they want to give one).
By priming the immune system with Transfer Factor, the immune intelligence
should be less confused, though I'm not sure that's measurable."

Vaccinations in Veterinary Medicine: Dogs
and Cats
by Don Hamilton, DVM
A practice that was started many years ago and that lacks scientific
validity or verification is annual re-vaccinations. Almost without exception
there is no immunologic requirement for annual revaccinations. Immunity
to viruses persists for years or for the life of the animal. Successful
vaccination to most bacterial pathogens produces an immunologic memory
that remains for years, allowing an animal to develop a protective anamnestic
(secondary) response when exposed to virulent organisms. Only the immune
response to toxins requires boosters (e.g. tetanus toxin booster, in humans,
is recommended once every 7-10 years). And no toxin vaccines are currently
used for dogs and cats. Furthermore, revaccination with most viral vaccines
fails to stimulate an anamnestic (secondary) response as a result of interference
by existing antibody (similar to maternal antibody interference). The practice
of annual vaccination in our opinion should be considered of questionable
efficacy unless it is used as a mechanism to provide an annual physical
examination or is required by law (i.e., certain states require annual
revaccination for rabies).
Summary: Yearly "boosters" are unnecessary, provide no benefit if given
(will not increase immunity). Thus boosters are either a legal issue (Rabies)
or a manipulation issue (inducing clients to come in for examination rather
than directly suggesting an examination).
The issue of initial vaccination is less clear than that of boosters.
Many clinicians feel that without vaccination they would see outbreaks
of disease, particularly canine parvovirus disease. This can be a difficult
issue to resolve. A fundamental dilemma is that vaccination in effect leads
to weakening of the gene pool, and thus the overall health of a given population.
One way this occurs is by allowing individuals to live that would otherwise
succumb to disease, such disease being a natural means to "cleanse" and
thus strengthen that population. This naturally presents an ethical quandary
these days (our understanding of native or aboriginal thinking suggests
that letting weak individuals die was implicitly understood to be not only
acceptable but proper).
Western
society values the individual's right to be, therefore we make efforts
to save all individuals. Any answer to this question naturally lies with
the individual(s) involved. The second, and more compelling theory of the
mechanism of interaction between a vaccine and the body suggests that vaccines
"protect" against the acute disease not by preventing the disease but by
changing the form of the disease to a chronic disease. 2 For example, the
panleukopenia virus of cats induces an intense, rapidly progressive malfunction
in the digestive tract, leading to vomiting and/or diarrhea. In adult vaccinated
animals this translates into a chronic state of diarrhea and sometimes
vomiting. This disease is known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), an
autoimmune disease of the intestines. IBD has been occurring at near epidemic
levels over the past several years; no other reasonable explanation has
been proposed for the proliferation of cases of the disease.
Vaccinations are known to be a major trigger of other autoimmune processes
in susceptible individuals, 3 so it is reasonable to suspect vaccines as
a trigger for IBD. Another aspect of panleukopenia virus infection, implied
by the name of the virus, is vastly lowered numbers of white blood cells
and corresponding immune deficiency. Could the appearance of Feline Leukemia
virus disease and later Feline Immunodeficiency virus disease be related
to vaccination for panleukopenia during the previous two decades? The logicality
of this theory does not allow easy dismissal of a relationship, most likely
cause and effect. Both of the latter diseases produce low white blood cell
counts and immunodeficiency as part of their symptom complexes.
Similar connections have been proposed between Canine Distemper virus
disease and both kennel cough and Canine Parvovirus diseases as "distemper"
includes a pneumonia component as well as severe diarrhea. Chronic coughing
is characteristic of kennel cough; parvovirus disease affects the intestines,
producing severe diarrhea and vomiting. Additionally, the incidence of
inflammatory bowel disease in dogs appears to be on the increase in the
past year or two. Vaccination of dogs for Canine Parvovirus has been in
effect for fifteen years, contrasted with the much longer history of parvovirus
vaccination in cats (Feline Panleukopenia virus is a member of the parvovirus
family). This portends a frightening future for dogs if the connection
is indeed correct. Finally, connections are proposed between vaccination
for Rabies and increasing numbers of fearful, aggressive animals. Behavioral
problems of the extent seen today are a recent occurrence, being rare only
two to three decades ago. 4 Their emergence is coincident with the practice
of repeated adult vaccination, suggesting the need to examine that relationship.
Aggressive behavior has been observed in dogs for several days following
vaccination for rabies, even with non-infectious [killed] vaccines.5, 6
As practitioners sharing responsibility for the well being of patients,
veterinarians are faced with a challenge when dealing with acute diseases.
Vaccinations may prevent these acute diseases, but if the exchange is for
a lifetime of chronic disease, is that a viable option? (Viable is from
the French vie, meaning life, so the question is will the patient live
and flourish or simply exist.)
First, remembering that booster vaccines are unnecessary, we can stop
all vaccination after one year of age for virtually all diseases. (cf.
below; Rabies is required by law so we need to work to change the laws
so that they are in accordance with the fact rather than fear.) As repetition
naturally increases the likelihood of problems, we can reduce side effects
tremendously with no additional risk to the patient, simply by stopping
adult boosters. Of course, there will still be some risk involved with
even the initial vaccinations, but no risk of contracting the acute disease
once the animal is immunized by these first vaccines. See below for duration
of immunity to the various diseases for which vaccines are available.
Secondly, all vaccines should be administered as single antigens. (An
antigen is something that is capable of eliciting an immune response, in
this case a viral or bacterial organism from which a vaccine is produced.)
This means not using the polyvalent vaccines which have become so common
these days. Natural exposure to diseases is usually one at a time, and
the body is probably more successful at responding to only one antigen
and producing immunity without adverse effects, rather than responding
to a complex of antigens. Therefore, rather than giving a group of antigens
together at three to four week intervals, individual components should
be given using an alternating schedule with a minimum of repetition. (Cf.
below)
Thirdly, only immunize for diseases which meet all of the following
criteria:
1.The disease is serious, even life threatening.
2.The animal is or will be exposed to the disease.
3.The vaccine for the disease is known to be effective.
4.The vaccine for the disease is considered safe.
Let us take Feline Leukemia virus (FeLV) disease as an example. An indoor
only cat will not be exposed as this requires direct, intimate, cat-to-cat
contact. Many veterinarians recommend immunizing indoor cats against this
disease. I feel this is unethical. This disease does not fit criteria number
three or four anyway in my experience, so vaccination is unwarranted in
most if not all circumstances. Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) virus
disease is another disease which fits neither three or four. FIP vaccine
has generally been found ineffective and has produced severe side effects.
Among the side effects I have observed with both FIP and FeLV is induction
of the clinical disease they were intended to prevent. In dogs, Canine
Hepatitis (CH) virus is almost nonexistent (the vaccine virus to prevent
CH is Adenovirus-2). Leptospirosis is extremely rare and often not the
same serotype used in the vaccine 7 and the bacterin for "lepto" is very
prone to side effects. Coronavirus disease was never a serious threat except
to dog companions' bank accounts, the same being true for Lyme disease
except possibly in very small regions. Kennel cough disease is generally
not serious (criteria one), and one study showed immunization to be ineffective
or even counterproductive. 8 Immunization should be limited to high risk
circumstances, if at all. A similar situation exists with the feline upper
respiratory diseases; most are not serious except in very young kittens
who contract the disease before vaccines are typically administered. Rabies
is another disease for which indoor cats and well confined dogs have no
exposure, so the vaccine is clinically unnecessary although required by
law.
Fourth, vaccines should NEVER be given to unhealthy animals. This is
a practice that is gaining popularity among veterinarians for some strange
reason, and it goes against the recommendations in all vaccine inserts
as well as those of virtually all immunologists. This is malpractice in
my opinion.
A bolder option is to refuse immunizations entirely, recognizing the
inherent risk in administration of even one vaccine into the body, and
being willing to accept the risk of not immunizing. While risk does exist
if animals are unvaccinated, it can be moderated significantly by feeding
better quality foods (home prepared, including fresh, raw meats) and by
limiting exposure until the animals are six to eight months of age. An
unvaccinated animal will be significantly less likely to suffer from allergies
and many health problems. Skin allergic reactions have been associated
with vaccine administration, 9 and tremendous numbers of dogs and cats
have skin allergies today. Some other diseases for which links to vaccines
are known or suspected include epilepsy, thyroid disorders 10 (hyper- and
hypothyroidism), chronic hepatitis, renal failure, cystitis or lower urinary
tract disease (particularly in cats), autoimmune hemolytic anemia, 11 neurologic
diseases such as confusion and inability to be "present", asthma, and so
on. In humans sudden infant death syndrome is strongly linked to DPT vaccination,
12 as are attention deficit disease/hyperactivity and autism, 13 among
many others including severe brain damage.
Why are vaccines worse than natural exposure? Probably the major factors
are the artificial means by which exposure is created with vaccines and
the repetition. With few exceptions (primarily rabies and occasionally
Feline Leukemia virus or Feline Immunodeficiency virus), infectious organisms
are transmitted via oral and nasal exposure, and this response begins at
the oral/nasal level with recognition of a foreign material or organism,
followed by initial non-specific destruction and elimination of the organism
at the local site of exposure as well as within the blood stream whence
an organism may not even reach the interior to cause deep illness, but
may be successfully repelled at the periphery. In other cases the body
would have a lag time of several hours or even days to begin mounting a
response before the "invader" reaches interior organs. As a consequence,
deeper pathology may be minimized or even averted. This interior organ
pathology may be a direct result of the organism, or it may be an indirect
result, manifested through antigen-antibody complexes or other immune system
components. These components may inadvertently damage body tissues as "innocent
bystanders", or may directly attack or invade tissues due to recognition
problems (autoimmune diseases). The latter may happen because of similarity
between organism structures and host tissues; often this involves the nucleoproteins
(DNA or RNA), molecules that are important for controlling activity at
a cellular level.
When a vaccine is administered, the organism is injected directly into
body tissues, bypassing the local immune responses. When this happens,
much of the immune system is rendered useless. The body then must compensate
by increasing the activity of the balance of the system, and the defenses
begin in a compromised state, with the organism already in the blood stream.
Within the blood stream, the primary aspects of the immune system are antibodies,
proteins which attach to the organism and assist in its destruction. Although
normally only a part of the defenses, these antibodies become heavily responsible
in a vaccine (injected) induced invasion, thereby initiating a hyperactive
(increased) response. Additionally, the preparation of vaccines often breaks
down the integral structure of the virus or bacteria, exposing internal
strictures such as viral DNA or RNA (depending on the virus) to the immune
system, leading to heavy antibody production against these nucleoproteins.
Since nucleoproteins are relatively similar in all life forms, the host
antibodies may lose the induced hyperactivity of antibody production. The
result may be antibody mediated destruction of host tissue, and autoimmune
disease. In a natural exposure, antibodies would be directed more at external
structures, which are less similar to host tissues thus less likely to
induce cross reactions. Incidentally, autoimmune diseases are occurring
more frequently than ever; could this be a reason?
Aside from the above considerations, vaccines commonly contain materials
other than the organism to which immunity is desired. These materials may
be added as preservatives, adjuvants (materials to stimulate immune response,
usually added to non-infectious [killed] vaccines), or antibiotics. Preservatives
and adjuvants include such toxins and carcinogens as aluminum (alum), mercury
(thimersol), and formaldehyde. Also, many foreign proteins are included
if the organism was grown on foreign tissue such as chicken or duck embryos.
Even more frightening, non-intended organisms are sometimes accidentally
incorporated as contaminant "stowaways". In 1995 The Washington Post reported
that MMR vaccine produced by Merck and Co. along with some influenza and
yellow fever vaccines, contained an enzyme known as reverse transcriptase.
This enzyme is associated with retroviruses such as FeLV, FIV, and HIV,
and has the capability to alter genetic information, leading to serious
diseases such as leukemia and other cancers. These diseases may take years
to manifest, so correlation with vaccination may be impossible, masking
a potentially causative relationship.
The recommended schedules (age to vaccinate) are from Dr. Schultz, with
a few changes as follows: He supports the use of combination vaccines and
I strongly do not. He thus recommends in cats to combine Panleukopenia
(FPL), Calicivrus (FC), and Rhinotracheitis (FVR) in one schedule; I have
recommended to use FVR-FC intranasal vaccine only if needed, and separately
from FPL. In dogs he would combine Distemper (CD), Parvo (CPV), and Hepatitis,
and possibly Corona and Parainfluenza. I would recommend CD and CPV only,
and not combined.
I generally support the use of killed (non-infectious) vaccines, as
I feel they have less likelihood for long term damage, but Dr. Schultz
presents a strong case for the use of modified live vaccines (MLV) as repetition
can be necessary with non-infectious vaccines. With MLV, one dose can have
high efficacy. This primarily applies to DC and CPV as non-infectious [killed]
Rabies and FP are as effective as MLV. Dr. Schultz' one dose-95% (one dose
of vaccine at a given age will successfully immunize 95% of animals) suggestions
are as follows.
Canine Distemper (MLV) 10-12 weeks
Canine Parvovirus (MLV) 12-14 weeks
Feline Panleukoenia (non-inf. [killed] OK) 10-12 weeks
Finally, a comment about vaccinations and choice. While the concept
of 'owning' an animal is one with which I am uncomfortable, I do recognize
that this is how the human-animal relationship is viewed from a legal perspective.
Otherwise we certainly can be said to be guardians of our companion animals.
Within this framework the choice about vaccination rests with the human
who has accepted responsible guardianship. It does not rest with the veterinarian.
Another trend of the past few years is coercion of guardians into procedures
such as vaccination. This coercion may be blatant, such as refusal to provide
services, even emergency care, unless the animal is 'current' on vaccines.
Sometimes even critically ill animals are vaccinated upon admission for
treatment. More subtle means include induction of fear and/or guilt by
asserting (as an authority figure) that companion animals are at risk if
not vaccinated yearly, and that failure to comply is evidence of lack of
caring. Tactics such as this can create feelings of guilt in the guardian,
leading to a fear based decision to vaccinate an animal that is not at
risk. This is unethical if not outright malpractice and refusal is an acceptable
response. As has been stated above, rabies vaccination is legally compulsive
at one to three year intervals, so refusal is a legal risk. Fighting to
change these laws, however, is appropriate.

Dr
Andrew Jones, DVM answers to some very common Vaccine Questions
Q: Should I vaccinate my dog or cat every year?
A: No. There is absolutely no scientific justification for annual vaccination.
According to Dr Ronald D Schultz, head of pathobiology at Wisconsin University,
and the world's most eminent expert on canine and feline immunology, "once
immunity to a virus exists, it persists for years or for the life of an
animal". This fact, supported by further duration of immunity studies,
has been accepted by veterinary bodies in America and Australia. The consensus
is that, if you wish to vaccinate your dog, then he should have puppy shots
followed by one shot after six months of age, and then no further shots
are required.
Q: I thought vaccines were safe - what are the adverse effects?
A: Inflammatory ('itis') diseases in dogs and cats are becoming increasingly
common, due largely to vaccines. Vaccines contain modified live viruses;
formaldehyde (a cancer-causing preservative used to embalm corpses); mercury
and aluminium salts (both toxins); serum (blood products); and other worrying
substances. The medical and veterinary professions readily acknowledge
that both humans and animals can have allergic reactions to serum. But
add all the other components, and it's no wonder some individuals have
allergic reactions.
In addition, vaccines are often cultivated on dog and cat brains and
kidneys, on hamsters, on monkeys, and on chick embryos. If any of these
animals' tissues are inadequately removed from the vaccine, the patient
can have a hypersensitivity reaction to them. The words 'hypersensitivity',
'allergy', and 'inflammation' are interchangeable. Sometimes the hypersensitivity
reaction is so severe that the patient must be immediately injected with
adrenaline or they will die.
Because vaccines are generally injected straight into the bloodstream,
components can be carried around the body. Depending upon the animal's
genetic predisposition, the allergic reaction could manifest as inflammation
of the brain, inflammation of the digestive system, inflammation of the
bones and joints - in fact, any of the many inflammatory
conditions. This is why scientists have written and produced scientific
papers that link vaccines in with brain damage, epilepsy, behavioural problems,
colitis, arthritis, thyroid disease, heart failure, kidney failure, cancer
and more.
The practice of cultivating vaccines on animal tissue has also been
called into question. The Salk Polio vaccine illustrated the dangers of
this when
it was discovered that it was contaminated with a range of monkey retroviruses.
SV40, a monkey retrovirus found in the Salk vaccine, has been found at
the cancer sites of people who received this vaccine. Worryingly, it has
also been found at the cancer sites of their children. SV40 switches off
the part of the DNA that protects from cancer.
SIV, another monkey retrovirus, was also a contaminant in the Salk vaccine.
SIV and HIV are closely related viruses, and independent scientists have
traced the emergence of AIDS to mass polio vaccination in the Belgian
Congo and amongst male homosexuals in New York who were given the vaccine
in an attempt to protect against genital herpes (however strange this might
sound!).
Similarly, an avian (bird) retrovirus has been found in leukaemia patients,
and it is thought that the retrovirus came from the MMR vaccine. Distemper
and measles are virtually identical viruses, and both vaccines are
cultivated on chick embryos.
Where did parvovirus come from in the 1970s, killing thousands of dogs?
Scientists have been quoted as saying that it was a cross-species disease,
created by a vaccine manufacturer who cultivated the distemper vaccine
on cats infected with feline enteritis. The first vaccine for this new
disease
was a stopgap: the feline enteritis vaccine. The disease occurred simultaneously
around the world. Naturally occurring diseases spread slowly, but vaccine
manufacturers send their products out in batches around the world, easily
creating a worldwide epidemic.
By looking at scientific data from both human and animal-based research,
we are able to say that vaccines are proven to cause inflammatory and immune-
mediated diseases. The UK vet Christopher Day observed that, where the
start date of an illness in his patients is known, around 80% of patients
started to be ill within three months of vaccination. CHC put this theory
to the test by inviting pet owners to complete a short questionnaire.
There were over 4,000 dogs in the survey. We asked, if your dog is ill,
when did he become ill in relation to the vaccine? We have been astounded
by the results so far.
-
91% of Ataxia cases occurred within three months of a vaccine event
-
81% of dogs who had tumours at their vaccine sites, first developed the
tumours within three months of being vaccinated
-
78.6% of dogs with encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) first developed
the condition within three months of being vaccinated
-
73.1% of epileptic dogs first became epileptic within three months of being
vaccinated
-
65.9% of dogs with colitis developed the condition within that first three
months
-
64.9% of dogs with behavioural problems started to be a problem within
three months of vaccination
-
61.5% of dogs developed liver failure within three months of being vaccinated.
The above figures were chosen at random from our findings to illustrate
the principle to you: vaccines may be protecting our dogs against viral
disease, but they are doing this at a very high price. If vaccination had
no bearing on subsequent illness, only 25% of dogs should become ill in
each three-month period.
Q: Is CHC saying that we should leave our dogs unprotected against
horrible diseases like distemper and parvovirus?
A: No, certainly not. In fact, we would say you should not leave your
dogs unprotected. But you can minimise the risks.
Firstly, if you choose to continue vaccinating, you could have puppy
shots and possibly the first year's booster, and leave it at that. This
is the advice being given now by veterinary colleges in America.
Secondly, you could use the homoeopathic alternative
instead.
This has been used by many breeders and show people for years. Reports
indicate that
homoeopathically protected dogs are far healthier than vaccinated dogs.
There are several scientific studies showing that the homoeopathic
alternative
works.
Vaccine manufacturers are currently trying to tell us that dogs need
annual boosters against leptospirosis, which is a bacterin rather than
a virus.
However, many eminent scientists say that this vaccine should actually
be withdrawn as it is not very protective, and it is the vaccine most associated
with adverse reactions. The kennel cough virus mutates (like the flu)
so you can't guarantee permanent immunity from the vaccine. However, scientific
research has shown that the homoeopathic nosode is more protective against
kennel cough than the vaccine - and it's safer.
Q: My vet tells me that you are scaremongering and that I should
continue to vaccinate every year. I don't know what to do.
A: Vets, however well-meaning, are educated in colleges that rely upon
vaccine and pharmaceutical companies for funding in the form of sponsorship,
research grants, scholarships and bursaries. Colleges are reliant upon
big business for funding, and few people are willing to bite the hand that
feeds
them. Vets' education with regard to vaccines tends to stop beyond
"do it".
Our knowledge about immunity has improved
greatly over the past five years. Some of the information coming to light
about vaccines will present an
ethical and economic challenge to veterinarians. But your pet deserves
to come first, over and above any such challenges. If your vet says annual
vaccination is necessary, ask him if he has heard of the research coming
out of America, and the advice that annual vaccination is unnecessary.
If he has heard of this research, he cannot dismiss your questions. If
he has not heard of it, then he lacks the knowledge to advise.
Finally, your dog looks at you with love and trust in his eyes, not
at a stranger in a white coat. It is vitally important that you do as much
as you can to understand the facts. Please don't do as I did and allow
your dogs to die before you discover the truth. I wish you and your animal
friends many
happy and healthy years together.
Health Hazard of Routine Vaccination:
placing our animals at risk
Most pet owners aren't aware of the dangers in animal vaccinations
that have been discovered in recent years. The major veterinary associations
now agree that vaccinations can trigger all sorts of maladies, from allergies
to cancer - but most pet caretakers (and many veterinarians, it seems)
haven't gotten the word. "With vaccines that are repeated year after year,
the frequency and severity of these side-effects in our pets has increased
dramatically. Most of the problems involve the immune system. After all,
the immune system is what vaccines are designed to stimulate. But they
do so in a very unnatural way that can overwhelm and confuse the immune
system." Dr. Donna Starita Mehan

Vaccine Disclosure Forms Draws a Big Crowd - CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT
Pet Vaccine Legilation-LR883
Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2005 07:12:39 -0500
From: "Peter and Kris Christine" <LedgeSpring@lincoln.midcoast.com>
Greetings!
Representative Peter Rines (prines@verizon.net)
of Wiscasset, Maine has just put in a bill, LR883 – An Act to Require Veterinarians
to Provide Vaccine Disclosure Forms (http://janus.state.me.us/legis/lio/LR122r1/
scroll down left hand-side to Rep. Peter Rines and click for his bill titles),
for legislation which will require veterinarians to give disclosure sheets
prior to vaccinating pets and when prescribing medications.
These disclosure forms will be just like the ones you receive when you
get antibiotics or other prescription medication from the pharmacy.
This is precedent-setting legislation, and the Maine Veterinary Medical
Association strongly attacked Senator Chris Hall when he first proposed
this legislation -- we need a large show of public support to get this
passed. Once it does, it is only a matter of time before other states
follow suit. Representative Rines is the second Maine legislator
willing to sponsor this legislation -- if it doesn't get enough support
to pass, you can bet it will a long time before another legislator is willing
to submit such a bill, and he is already hearing from mainstream veterinarians
who are opposed to full disclosures for pet owners.
Representative Rines and I need your help to get
this through. Here's what you can do. Send this e-mail to all
of your pet-owning friends and acqaintances -- ALL OF THEM! This legislation
will apply to feline vaccines and medications as well. Permission
is granted to cross-post this. Please contact Representative Rines EVEN
IF YOU DON'T LIVE IN MAINE! Maine residents, please contact
your Representative and Senator and ask them to support Representative
Rines' bill. If you don't have your Representative's contact information,
click on this link: http://janus.state.me.us/house/townlist.htm
and click on the following link to get contact information for your senator:
http://www.state.me.us/legis/senate/.
Write letters to the editor supporting this legislation
(Maine newspapers with e-mails and fax numbers are below). For those
of you who are members of dog clubs, please get your clubs to send Representative
Rines (Rep. Peter Rines 334 Bradford Rd.Wiscasset, Me. 04578/ 207-882-9794)
an official letter of endorsement and send a copy to the newspapers as
an Op Ed as well as have individual members write to the papers.
Breeders and kennel owners -- please send this e-mail to all of your clients.
We need a strong public show of support. Any of the veterinarians
on the list willing to come out openly on this would help immensely, especially
when the public hearing comes up, or you can send this e-mail to your clients
if you wish.
We have a unique opportunity here -- there
is momentum statewide, nationally, and internationally -- over 4,350 people
have signed the pet vaccine disclosure petition started by Safer Vaccinations
for Companion Animals http://www.petitiononline.com/petvax23/ With
a small amount of your effort, we can get the first pet vaccine/prescription
medication disclosure legislation in the country (perhaps even in the world)
passed here in Maine. I have not heard of any other states with legislators
willing to step up to the plate to do the right thing for companion animals,
so let's make sure Representative Rines gets more than enough support for
his pet vaccine disclosure bill!!

Hearing
on Pet Vaccine Disclosure Forms Draws a Big Crowd
By Kay Liss
A hearing on a proposal to require veterinarians to provide to pet owners
disclosure forms on vaccines was standing-room-only on Monday in Augusta.
Comments were fairly equally divided, with citizens in support on one hand
and veterinarians opposed on the other. The proposed act is the latest
effort spearheaded by Kris Christine of Alna to correct what she views
as flaws in state laws regarding the administering of vaccines to pets,
dogs in particular.
She recently was successful in bringing enough attention to discrepancies
in canine rabies vaccination rules, which resulted in over-vaccination
of dogs in Maine for 17 years, that the law was changed, extending the
administering of inoculations from two to three years. Language exempting
sick dogs from the requirement is soon to be added, due to the persistence
of the Alna mother and dog owner.
This new proposal, initially championed by former Senator Chris Hall
of Bristol, and presently by Rep. Peter Rines (D-Wiscasset), is an important
next step, Christine believes, providing pet owners with scientifically-based
information on which to make decisions on other routinely-given canine
vaccines, specifically the distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis booster shot,
recommended annually by vets. In her research into the rabies vaccines
issue, she came upon information that suggested this booster vaccine was
protective for much longer than a year.
The
Rabies Challenge Fund - World-renowned vaccine research scientist and
practicing veterinarian, Dr. W. Jean Dodds of California, and pet vaccine
disclosure advocate, Kris L. Christine of Maine, have established The Rabies
Challenge Fund to raise money to fund a 7 year canine rabies vaccine challenge
study in the United States. learn

by other veterinarians as well, although some caution that immune problems
may involve more factors than just vaccination. "We're seeing more immune
problems in general," noted Jean Dodds, D.V.M., a veterinarian with a referral
practice in hematology and immunology in Santa Monica, California. "And
it's likely that vacinations are just one of the triggers in individuals
that are susceptible." Many holistic veterinarians also report that their
observations in practice seem to support a link between vaccinations and
a wide variety of ailments.
The
Cats are Talking... About Chronic Disease
by Will
Falconer, DVM, Certified Veterinary Homeopath
Note: This article
not meant to be a "feline" article per se. At first glance, it may
seem to be that, but
it's in fact more
of an exposure of modern medicine, veterinary as well as human.
Having watched animals and their illnesses for the last twenty-odd years
of practice, I am seeing a disturbing trend. Have you noticed it, too?
When illness strikes our pets, it is long term, chronic, and difficult
to cure. The best that conventional medicine seems able to do is to (barely
or briefly) control symptoms, but these poor creatures never get back to
a normal, enthusiastic level of health. We've all seen these animals: they
are allergic to something and itch a lot; they have thyroid problems and
lose their hair or their body weight (depending on whether they have too
little or too much thyroid function); they have stiffness and pain in their
joints; or their teeth get filthy regularly, and they don't stay clean
with our best efforts at dental hygiene. Why is this becoming so common?
When I look at it carefully, it's apparent that we are not raising healthy
pets. Oh, we try, we follow the veterinary line that says we should vaccinate
every one every year, we should feed only one kind of food from a bag or
can, we should brush teeth regularly, control fleas with the latest chemicals,
but where is this getting us and our four-footed companions? The cats are
telling a story about this that I want to share with you.
Back twenty some years ago, dogs were the most popular pet in America.
Cats were less popular, and, therefore, had less likelihood of being brought
to the vet. As the years went on, more people lived in smaller spaces,
led busier lives, and had less time to care for a dog, but wanted that
special companionship that a pet can bring, so cats grew in popularity,
until, by the mid-80's, they overtook dogs in numbers owned per capita.
And where did the conscientious pet owners get their advice on raising
the healthiest cats they could? From their local veterinarian, of course.
What was the definition of giving the best care? Vaccinating annually,
feeding Science Diet, brushing teeth, treating for fleas, etc. Just like
it had been for years before with the canine population.
Interestingly enough, the diseases that are quite common in cats now
were virtually unknown in the late 70's when I was in veterinary school.
We had two donated diabetic beagle siblings who lived in the hospital and
taught us about this strange disease. It was something we never saw in
cats, and it was pretty uncommon in dogs for that matter. We learned of
hypothyroidism from several canine cases, but cats didn't have thyroid
problems, and hyperthyroidism
was not in the books or the exam rooms. We saw horrible skin allergies
in dogs, with crusts and scabs and red feet and unending itchiness, but
we didn't see cats with this disease, either.
Well, if you've been observant in recent years, you know that these
chronic diseases are fairly commonplace now in the feline population. As
are heartworm (again, a dog disease originally), asthma, kidney failure,
inflammatory bowel disease, dental calculus and decay, heart disease, and
cancer. Why? Could it be that the cat is now following the same road that
the dog has gone down? I think so, and what's more, I think we need to
redefine what is the best way to raise a healthy animal.
More veterinary care in the usual preventative way has backfired, and
I think we are actually causing these chronic diseases to become more prevalent.
While prevention is still most important, it's not best done by annual
vaccines, toxic food, and topical flea poisons that warn us not to get
them on our skin.
And guess what? Wild cats like the lynx and bobcat are not experiencing
these chronic degenerative diseases. Wolves don't die of heartworm disease
or have dirty teeth. And nobody is dropping them heartworm pills monthly
nor brushing their teeth. Might we do better to follow their example (fresh,
healthy food, no/minimal vaccines, no toxic chemicals)? I think we will
all be happier and see less disease in all species when we do. I know this
approach works. Experience has borne it out in daily practice on hundreds
of animals. Question the norm! Don't raise an average animal in the common
way.
The cats are talking. Are you listening?

smooth working together of doctor, care giver, and animal. The doctor depends
on you the care giver to carefully watch and report on symptoms. He will
use the information you provide to carefully guide the course of homeopathic
care for your individual animal. As no two animals are exactly alike, even
if they have the same diagnosis, we will focus on how your individual animal
manifests illness and health. This uniqueness will guide the treatment
according to the clear principals of classical homeopathy. more

I get this question more often than I used to:
“If I’m not vaccinating my animal against parvo and distemper (or ______),
do I need to avoid contact with other animals?” The norm has been for my
patients to come to me already vaccinated, so the easy answer, based on
duration of immunity, was no, the immunity should persist for “years if
not the life of the animal.” Now that people have thought more about
the dangers of vaccination, it may be that some are choosing not to vaccinate
until later in life (pups at 12-16 weeks old, for example), to be sure
the minimum number of vaccines will give long-lived immunity. They may
be using homeopathic nosodes before that, or may be opting to not vaccinate
at all. What to do for these guys? Keep them in a bubble, away from all
exposure to possible disease causing germs? No. That’s impractical, and,
unless you have a strictly indoor cat, not much fun.
The goal is to have an immune system that can
defend the animal against exposure to parvo, canine or feline distemper,
kennel cough, FeLV, strangles, flu, Rhino, etc. If you opt to have the
strongest immune system possible without the risks that vaccines confer,
use the preventative program that keeps the immune system strong safely
and efficaciously, and without risk to the animal. That, in my opinion,
is daily dosing with the Animal Health supplements utilizing Transfer
Factor products coupled with excellent nutrition,
should be adequate protection to get your animal out in the real world,
benefitting from natural exposure to viruses and bacteria that can make
the immune system stronger. Follow label doses and boost this base level
as I explain below if exposure is likely
Question: does vaccination (or over-vaccination) causes overactive
immune reaction (autoimmune disorder) or does it cause suppression of the
immune system?
Dr. Will Falconer: The answer
is YES. Probably both. I think the main thing is, vaccination
*confuses* the immune system, as I point out
in my heartworm eBook.
So, it could go either way, or alternate over time between the two. Transfer
Factor should be given before and immediately after vaccination for
at least a few weeks to help ameliorate the confusion (when someone is
faced with a mandatory vaccination, or has decided they want to give one).
By priming the immune system with Transfer Factor, the immune intelligence
should be less confused, though I'm not sure that's measurable.

Routine
Vaccination: Is it really safe and effective?
Most recently, an article appeared in the Journal of the American Veterinary
Medical Association entitled
"Are We Vaccinating Too Much?"
Dr. Richard Pitcairn D.V.M. Ph.D:"In
this article we begin to address the subject of vaccinosis, the general
name for chronic dis-ease caused by vaccines. For some readers the very
idea that vaccines are anything but wonderful and life-saving may come
as a surprise, and it's not a very pleasant one. After all, the general
population pictures vaccines as one of modern medicine's best and brightest
moments, saving literally millions from the scourge of diseases like poliomyelitis
and smallpox. " Dr. Pitcairn DVM, Ph.D
Dr. Chambreau DVM: "Holistic veterinarians
are finding that vaccines are causing great harm to our animals (and ourselves).
To cure an animal of any problem we have found through experience that
we must use homeopathic remedies that are known to reverse vaccine related
problems as well as fit this individual." In this paper, Dr.
Chambreau DVM, offers vaccination guidelines and homemopathic prevention
schedule.
Dr. McCluggage DVM,- "...we must stop advocating
yearly vaccines because of the harm we are doing to the animals we vaccinate.
He covered the homeopathic concept of "vaccinosis". Vaccinosis is a disease
entity that may be introduced through vaccinating animals or people. Once
vaccinosis develops, there is a disturbance in the bodies vital forces
that leads to symptoms of chronic disease that can be very difficult (and
often impossible) to cure. Dr. McCluggage also stated that there are no
good reasons to recommend annual vaccinations for our companion animals.
" Dr. McCluggage DVM
Donna Starita Mehan DVM: "Routine" vaccination
has adverse side-effects, either short or long term. With vaccines that
are repeated year after year, the frequency and severity of these side-effects
in our pets has increased dramatically. Most of the problems involve the
immune system. After all, the immune system is what vaccines are designed
to stimulate. But they do so in a very unnatural way that can overwhelm
and confuse the immune system and can result in increased susceptibility
to acute infections (such as ear infections in dogs, bladder infections
in cats), chronic tapeworm problems, or in more degenerative cases, cancer."

Frustrated with the Failures of Conventional
Veterinary Medicine:
"After 10 years of traditional
veterinary practice I became tired of having no treatment for chronic disease,
incurable conditions, and a plethora of allergic maladies which seem to
plague all veterinary practices. I was frustrated with giving animals cortisone
because I had no other solutions, or using antibiotics for infections which
I knew were of viral origin. There is so much that can be done for an animal,
bird, or reptile that is ailing by utilizing homeopathic medicine."

Charles E Loops DVM
THE VACCINATION
DILEMMA and YOUR HEALTHY COMPANIONS Excerpt
by Dr Charles E Loops DVM
Homeopathic veterinarians and other holistic practitioners have maintained
for some time that vaccinations do more harm than they provide benefits.
Vaccinations represent a major assault on the body's immune system. Attentuated
organisms or chemicalled killed viruses or bacteria are injected directly
into the blood stream, an unnatural route of infection. This profound insult,
avoiding the body's first line of defenses, and flooding the system with
millions of organisms or viral particles, stresses the immune system in
a way not of natures design. This insult causes irregularities and abnormalities
in the immune system which then manifests as chronic diseases in animals.
These chronic diseases range from life-threatening conditions such as
auto-immune crises to conditions destroying the quality of life of an animal
as in chronic skin allergies. What we are now seeing are generations of
over-vaccinated animals and these current offspring are suffering the penalty
of this medical abuse. In an attempt to control a naturally occurring process
of population control and survival of the fittest, the medical establishment
has convinced people that mass innoculations are for the good of all, overlooking
the health of the individual. Where vaccinations have helped in eradicating
or reducing the incidence of severe, acute disease processes, the result
has been to plague humanity with more insiduous, chronic diseases that
are much more difficult to treat and that lower the quality of life for
many individual animals and people. In all of this, there needs to be BALANCE,
and the following are my recommendations for vaccinating or not vaccinating
and some comments about diet. 1. Puppies under three months of age should
not be vaccinated. Vaccinations are much more stressful on the underdeveloped
immune system.
Also, these vaccinations are much less effective at providing immunity
before three months of age. If you feel you must vaccinate, do so with
one vaccination of Distemper at three months, followed by a vaccination
for Parvovirus at four months of age, and stop with that. If you can't
find a single Distemper vaccine use the Distemper-measles combination.
Use killed vaccines only.
2. Kittens should only be vaccinated for Panleukopenia and not before
three months of age. All other vaccinations should be avoided. One vaccine
is sufficient.
3. Puppies and kittens can be given homeopathic
nosodes beginning at three weeks of age, if there is a potential for
exposure to Distemper, Parvovirus, or Panleukopenia. These nosodes can
be used until vaccinations are given or continued periodically for the
first year of life, if vaccinations are not given. Common sense should
be used in avoiding exposure of very young animals to other, possible unhealthy,
animals of the same species.
4. Booster vaccinations are completely unnecessary. Studies are now
showing that these vaccinations are effective for many years and most probably
for life. Vaccinated animals do not need any boosters. Homeopathic nosodes
can be given periodically if you are concerned or if you think your animals
live a high risk, life style.
5. Rabies Vaccinations should be given as dictated by state laws. Lyssin,
the homeopathic nosode, should be given within a few hours after the vaccination.
Clearly, the rabies vaccination is effective for many years more than state
laws require booster vaccination.
6. Booster vaccinations can cause SEVERE set-backs when an animal is
being treated homeopathically for chronic problems. They can completely
erase any progress that has been made towards improving an animal's health.
7. My personal recommendation is NOT to vaccinate at all. The best road
to good health is feeding a diet rich in fresh foods, raw meats for the
carnivores, and avoiding vaccinations and allopathic medications. Antbiotics
and other allopathic drugs should only be used in situations where their
use is clearly indicated, and this should be only in potentially, life-threatening
situations. Every time you suppress a symptom the body produces, you are
potentially lowering the health status of the body system. Treating with
the correctly prescribed, homeopathic remedy, herbs, or other non-invasive
therapies, not of a chemical nature, will enhance your health and your
companions health.

"These 200+ dogs are given a distemper vaccine and a Parvovirus vaccine
only, at age 10 weeks and 1 year. No other vaccines are given except occasionally
rabies, when needed. Their diet varies from home-prepared to commercial.
These dogs are having litters and showing at 10 years of age, and live
to 16 or so. In the States, many Shepherds are dying by the age of 10.
Other breeders have found that stopping vaccination has made their line
much healthier, and usually immune (through good health) to the infectious
agents that usually cause disease. Not always, of course. Some dogs or
cats are very susceptible to disease and will become infected and may die.
Most survive epidemics with mild disease, if treated holistically."

"I attended a lecture by Don Hamilton, DVM, in 1996. I saw a slide
showing the incidence of negative side-effects after vaccination. Since
then, I have known to give my animals 3 doses of Thuja
30X after vaccination … on day 1, day 2, and day 5. We’ve never had
another problem."
Below are excerpts from Homeopathy
Today magazine May/June 04 issue) I invite you to
subscribe to learn how Kristy treated each of her dogs successfully
with the correct homeopathic remedies. (Some dogs required other
remedies besides thuja)
Paralysis from a “bad batch” - Back in 1989, when our whippets,
Leilani and Lovey, were 5 years old, they received their annual DHAPP [distemper,
hepatitis, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvovirus] vaccination, injected
in the scruff of the neck at 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Around 11:00
a.m., Leilani started screaming. I rushed to her and found her dragging
herself with her front legs; the rear legs were paralyzed.
Pierre feverish after rabies shot - In late 1989, we adopted a 5-month-old
male whippet. We were told that he had not been vaccinated, so we dutifully
took him to the vet for a rabies vaccination. (We found out later that
he had already had a rabies shot at four months old.) Pierre had some interesting
symptoms that evening after the rabies shot. First, he declined dinner
(highly unusual!). Then he wouldn’t get up for the evening walk (usually
he was first to the leash rack). Upon touching him, I realized he had a
fever, so I got out the dog thermometer. It registered 104.7°F (normal
for an unvaccinated animal is about 100--101°F, vaccinated is about
101--102°F). I noticed that his eyes were glazed and staring, his gums
were bright red, and the skin in his groin was bright red, too.
Energetic puppy turns lethargic - In 1990, we found ourselves
with 5 puppies, all needing their rabies shots at 4 months of age, as required
by law. Being a bit gun-shy about vaccinations after the experiences mentioned
above, I gave each of the puppies a dose of Thuja 30X upon leaving the
vet’s office. This was great! No fevers, no swelling …However, several
days later, Joy was still very lethargic (she had been the animated one
up till then), so I decided to give her --- learn

Blaze gets rambunctious -
In 1991, one of the puppies (who had by
now gone to live with another family) decided I needed to learn how to
deal with behavior issues. Blaze got his second rabies vaccination on a
Thursday evening when he was 16 months old. His family spent the following
Saturday planting 2 trees, 12 bushes, and 4 flats of flowers. That evening
while they were having supper, he dug up and chewed everything! When they
scolded him, he just “smirked” and took off, seemingly forgetting every
single command and trick he’d been taught in obedience class.
Joy develops a lump - In 1992, when Joy had her second rabies vaccination,
I knew there was a risk of reaction based on the lethargy she had experienced
after her first shot the previous year, so I gave her some Thuja 30X immediately
after the vaccine. Five days later, she developed a huge lump on her neck.
I must admit I freaked out until I realized it was at the site of the injection.
I gave her a dose of Thuja 30X, but it didn’t reduce the lump. I found
some lecture notes on materia medica from my study group.

Vaccine Controversy
Vaccinations DO cause temporary and permanent damage to children every
year in this country, and many of the diseases against which we are vaccinated
are not as frightening as the damage caused by the vaccinations themselves.
If it has ever even occured to you that the medical system is not infallible,
these books will open your eyes to a reality that most people would prefer
to ignore.

Vaccines:
are they really safe and effective? Why
are a growing number of parents and health care professionals around the
world questioning vaccination? The controversy stems from the thousands
of deaths and permanent disabilities attributed to vaccination annually,
as well as the many published medical studies, government statistics, congressional
testimonies, and other credible sources that directly contradict commonly
held assumptions about vaccine safety and effectiveness.

Improving Your Animal's
Immune System and Overall Health with Nutritional Support
A groundswell of nutrition conscious veterinarians are beginning to
recommend to their clients that they supplement their animals diet with
a daily dose of flaxseed oil and other important nutrients. When the diets
of animals were fortified with flax, within three weeks their coats developed
a beautiful sheen, and dandruff was greatly diminished.
There are amazing testimonials about animals recovering from cancer,
diabetes and other severe degenerative illnesses with a nutritional product
called Transfer
Factor.
Charles
W. Brown, DVM - "My colleagues and I have found
this product (transfer factor) to be very effective in modulating the immune
system. Transfer factor is a "soup" of immune-modulating factors, which
contains a leukocyte-type molecule that can passively transfer immunity
from one mammal to another by stimulating cell-mediated immunity and is
antigen specific."
Richard
Bennett, Ph.D., an Infectious Disease
Microbiologist and Immunologist from the University of California, Davis
School of Veterinary Medicine, believes this could be the most significant
development in animal health care in decades. We have a great number of
veterinarians and clients who are experiencing very positive results in
a broad area of disorders, including periodontal.

Natural
Herbal Remedies for Dogs and Cats (and other animals too)
Animal
Diseases and their Natural Care
Michael Dym, VMD - "Over the past 40 years and 17 generations
of dogs and, cats we are seeing tremendous increases in chronic ill health
in our pets that was rare back in the early 1960's. Most of these illnesses
revolve around breakdown in our pets' immune systems, and include chronic
skin/ear allergies, digestive upset, thyroid/adrenal/pancreatic disorders,
seizures, gum/ teeth problems, degenerative arthritis, kidney/liver failure,
and cancer across all ages and breeds. We are also seeing a record number
of behavioral and emotional disorders including alarming and unexplained
fears/aggression., as well as difficulty focusing/training and paying attention.
The analogy of these compared with escalating immune/behavioral diseases
in children is quite disturbing. The two biggest factors in our pets' population
health decline over these generations has been the severe overuse
of multiple vaccines and nutrient poor and toxin
filled commercial pet foods. We have also failed to address the underlying
cause of disease by only sup pressing symptoms with antibiotics,
cortisone
and related drugs, so the disease progresses and goes deeper. Homeopathy
offers a viable alternative in truly curing pets and making their bodies
healthier."
Just like humans, domesticated animals like dogs and cats are affected
by the health hazards of modern living. Pollution, poor nutrition, stress
and unhealthy lifestyles can lead to a variety of illnesses and conditions
that are very similar to those experienced by humans. These days, emotional
and psychological problems like depression, anxiety, ADHD and behavioral
problems are just as prevalent in pets as they are in their owners.
Similarly, physical ailments such as diabetes,
arthritis, chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, cystitis, kidney and liver
disease, skin disorders, obesity, thyroid dysfunction and other problems
are becoming more and more common in domesticated animals. Many, if not
most of these conditions can be prevented by helping your pets to live
a healthier lifestyle. For pets already suffering from existing conditions,
a combination of lifestyle changes and natural medicine can work wonders!
Dr. John Hanover, DVM - "Young puppies and kittens with
respiratory infections are given Shipibo
Treasure Tea which they will lap up even when they will not drink water.
I frequently recommend Amazon Herbs for my patients, especially geriatric
animals and our Search and Rescue dogs.” more...
Will Falconer, DVM - "Most of the chronic diseases we commonly
see in animals (and humans) have an immune basis, e.g. diabetes, allergies,
asthma, thyroid disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, repeated ear infections,
cancer, etc. While they can be cured through the careful use of homeopathy,
the road to cure can be a long one -- often years if the animal has had
years of disease. Transfer factors can significantly shorten the course,
by giving a much needed balancing effect to the immune system. If the immune
system is overactive as in allergies, ear infections, asthma, diabetes,
or hypothyroidism, Transfer Factor can balance this overactivity so the
system is not attacking its own organs, overreacting to things that shouldn’t
be perceived as a threat. If, conversely, the immune system is under-active
as in mange, parasites, viral infections, or cancer, Transfer
Factor Plus can clearly stimulate it to better meet the challenges
it needs to be alert to." Prevaccination

from vaccines damage
Sam Jones, DVM - "Two cats, both about 8 years old, had severe
diabetes. It was impossible to get the insulin requirements adjusted. They
had lost weight to a point that they were skin and bones. Both cats had
no quality of life left. After one week of being on transfer
factors; we were able to get their insulin requirements adjusted. It
is now 6 months and they have regained their weight and have a great quality
of life and health."

Frustrated with the Failures of Conventional Veterinary Medicine:
"After
10 years of traditional veterinary practice I became tired of having no
treatment for chronic disease, incurable conditions, and a plethora of
allergic maladies which seem to plague all veterinary practices. I was
frustrated with giving animals cortisone because I had no other solutions,
or using antibiotics for infections which I knew were of viral origin."

Note
from Shirley: I am not a doctor, a nurse or a veterinarian, but I am
fortunate to have the knowledge of natural medicine. I studied homeopathy
and herbal remedies in my spare time at home for several years. When a
member of my family is sick or injured, I treat them at home with great
success and avoid conventional medical intervention.
When my dog Shasta
is sick or injured, I try to protect her from stress and anxiety and I
avoid taking her to a vet. I have witnessed the amazing healing power of
homeopathy,
herbal
extracts and Reiki energy healing in traumatic
emergency situations and in acute and chronic disease with my dog Shasta.
Some of the healings, which took place, were nothing short of miraculous.
I personally experienced the incredible healing power of homeopathy
in 1981 after I had been chronically sick for years and was addicted
to prescription and over the counter drugs. Unfortunately, instead of generating
a cure, the medications (steroids, antibiotics, antihistamine, etc.) merely
temporarily suppressed my symptoms, weakened my immune system, and in the
long run made me sicker. When I received homeopathic treatment from a professional
experienced homeopath my health had an amazing turn around. In time I experienced
a dramatic and permanent cure of all my symptoms. Blown away, I bought
dozens of homeopathic books, subscribed to homeopathic journals and started
to study homeopathy at home for the next several years. I'm not a doctor
or a nurse, but when a member of my family get sick or injured (including
my dog) I immediately use homeopathic medicine, always with great success,
and avoid seeing a conventional doctor or veterinarian. You can read my
testimonials
how
I recoved my health; using homeopathy for my dog
Shasta; my husband's heart attack
and lung cancer. The National Center
for Homeopathy has information about short courses for lay people.
Shirley
You can read my testimonial how I saved my dog's
life with homeopathy and raw food. I also have a record
of acute illness and traumas that Shasta experienced over the years
and how I treated her at home without veterinarian medical intervention.
One of the most amazing experience was when Shasta experienced at stroke
with paralysis at age 11. I refused to take her to the vet which
I knew was going to be very stressful on her emotionally. My husband thought
that this was the end for Shasta and talked about "putting her down". With
homeopathy, herbal extract and energy healing she recovered rapidly and
fully. read the story
