Half of our dogs and cats will have cancer in their lifetimes, and yet as pet owners, most of us know little or nothing about caring for an animal with cancer. The information presented here is an essential resource for anyone who has a pet with cancer to understand the underlaying conditions that can predispose your furry baby to cancer. Beware of chemotherapy and steroids devastating side effects. Learn what foods and supplements are effective in improving animal health and fighting cancer.
Cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation which greatly
weaken the immune system, can greatly benefit from taking transfer factors
supplementation. Transfer factors supplementation
serves to protect the body from "opportunistic" infections, which often
occur during these treatments. Dr Duane Townsend, former director of
gynecologic oncology at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, puts all of
his cancer patients on transfer factors treatments to boost their immune
systems’ abilities to respond to any health challenges. Both Japanese
and Chinese clinical studies found that the immunosuppression that results
from chemotherapy can be prevented by using transfer factors isolates.
Keep in mind that the elimination of dying or dead cancer cells is monitored
by the immune system. Italian, Japanese and American studies tell us
that the use of transfer factors isolates to boost immune function after
surgery significantly improves the chances of cancer-free future.
According to Dr. William Donald Kelley, D.D.S., M.S. in his book, "One
Answer To Cancer", at least 86% of all cancer conditions could be adequately
treated and/or prevented by diet and pancreatic enzymes. Dr. John Beard at the University of Edinburgh discovered that the body’s primary mechanism for destroying cancer is contained in pancreatin, a secretion from the pancreas that, among other things, includes enzymes for digesting protein. Enzymes digest or liquefy foods for absorption by the body. This was an unprecedented approach to treating the symptoms of cancer - a direct attack on the malignancy with a substance that did not have toxic side effects on the other functions of the body. Dogs, cats, ferrets and other animals with cancer have special nutritional needs. NuVet is a high quality supplement for dogs and cats that incorporates a precise formula of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, herbs and antioxidants that performs synergistically to bring together all the vital ingredients required to improve your pet’s health and keep them healthy.
"The results of a clinical trial suggest that 74.7% of common diseases in dogs and 63% of common diseases in cats can be eliminated without medical intervention over a period of one year with proper diet modifications and an understanding of the healing process as exhibited through healing episodes. Approaching disease from the perspective of health is the most powerful means of eliminating disease. Poor fuel makes for little momentum in life. The commercial food we are feeding' is the disease we are treating---so treat on and on, curing one disease after another, again and again." William Pollak D.V.M.

Your Pets? There is a better way to bring your pet to health
Irradiated pet food endangering pets health, killing pets The Australian government
in late May ordered an immediate stop to sterilizing cat food via
irradiation after reviewing scientific studies
pointing to food irradiation as the culprit behind illnesses characterized
by ataxia or paralysis of the limbs, especially the hind limbs.
Symptoms in the Australian cats first appeared three to six months after
they were exposed to the dry food, Child said. Some had eaten the food
for as few as three weeks; others for more than six months. The problem
affected 90 cats in Australia, of which 30 died, mostly by euthanasia
after they became paraplegic or tetraplegic, according to Dr. Georgina
Child, a neurologist at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital and University
of Sydney Teaching Hospital. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) also allows animal feed, including pet food and treats, to be
irradiated up to 50 kGy.
The Immune Response: The Body's Natural Defense Against Cancer
You cannot poison your animal into health
with drugs, chemo or radiation. The holistic
approach treats the whole animal, ignites the body's internal healing
force and stimulates the body's natural abilities to heal itself. The
only real defense against cancer is the immune system. Everyone gets
cancer every day but if the immune system is where it should be those
cancer cells are eliminated and we never know it. Once a person (or
an animal) has developed cancer, even though treatments get it into
remission, it will recur again unless the body conditions that
allowed it to develop in the first place are corrected.
We all know the importance of an optimal immune system, not only
after surgical procedures or fighting disease and serious illness, but
also in your patient's or pet's everyday wellness. Recent in vitro and
in vivo studies on transfer factors
documented an increase in Natural Killer cell activity.by 248% and 437% respectively, over baseline immune response. The NK cell is the animal's
first line of defense against many pathogens... bacteria, viruses, parasites, and of course malignant tumor cells.
Charles W. Brown, DVM -"My colleagues and I have
found transfer factors to be very effective in modulating the immune system.
Transfer factors are a "soup" of immune-modulating factors, which contains
a leukocyte-type molecule that can passively transfer immunity from
one mammal to another by stimulating cell-mediated immunity and is antigen
specific. The transfer factors "soup" also contains suppressor and inducer
factors, which can greatly increase the activity and effectiveness of natural killer cells
while addressing autoimmune conditions at the same time. Independent
laboratories have measured increases of more than 248% in natural killer
cell effectiveness on live erythroleukemic cells. We have experienced
encouraging results from the use of transfer
factors on horses. Richard Bennett, Ph.D., an Infectious Disease
Microbiologist and Immunologist, who received his Doctorate in Comparative
Pathology from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary
Medicine, believes this could be the most significant development in
animal health care in decades. We have a great number of veterinarians
and clients who are experiencing very positive results in a broad area
of disorders, including periodontal."
Important Note from Shirley:
Around the world people and veterinarians are using
transfer factors for their large and small animals with all types of conditions.
Transfer factors come in various forms and formulas.
to learn which formula and what amount is best suited for your type and size
of animal and how to administer it We will also tell you how to save 25% on your order.
Steven Slagle, DVM -"Transfer factors have turned out to be the most effective and versatile
products I have ever used in my 32-year veterinary practice. A cat with
leukemia, an oral tumor, and posterior paralysis due
to a spinal tumor, was very ill and emaciated. One
month after enhanced transfer factors (1 cap daily), there was some
regression of the oral tumor, restored appetite with some weight gain,
and increased sociability. Five months later, she continues to improve,
regaining normal weight, 80% regression of her oral tumor, and regaining use of hind legs and tail.
Slagle has successfully treated other types of cancer with transfer factors: Canine lipomas, Canine/feline hepatic tumors, Equine squamous
cell carcinoma, Equine melanomas; Feline leukemia, oral tumors.
February 2010, my dog, Sammy, a 10 year old pure-bred Lhasa Apso, started
acting lethargic and not his usual playful self. He didn’t seem to be
able to jump up on the furniture or go up and down stairs. He was very
unsure of himself. Sammy was notorious for eating socks and I thought
maybe he had swallowed something that was making him sick. We took him
to the family vet who ran blood work and took an x-ray of his stomach.
I was called the next day and told that Sammy’s blood work came back
normal and that the x-rays also appeared normal. Because we were both
puzzled as to what was wrong with Sam, the vet suggested we send the
x-rays to a specialist for review. Two days later I was called and told
that Sammy had a two-inch tumor wrapped around his adrenal gland. The
vet suggested the name of a doctor who specialized in animal cancers.
Needless to say, I was devastated.
Sammy and I made the journey to the animal oncologist’s office where
an ultra sound was performed and it confirmed that Sammy did, in fact,
have a tumor. Because of its location near a major blood vessel, surgery
was not an option. He would probably not survive. I was told he could
be put on a chemotherapy type drug but it could have serious
drug related side-effects. I declined the medication and they
told me to take him home and make him as comfortable as possible and
enjoy the time I had remaining with him. With tears pouring down my
face, I asked how long, but they wouldn’t give me an estimate. I was
heartbroken and Sammy sensed my emotions.
I am a person who believes that we can heal ourselves naturally.
I was on a mission to save my dog. I found the website “Shirley’s Wellness
Cafe” for people and their pets. I read everything I could about animal
cancer and the testimonials from veterinarians across the country who
have treated pets/animals with transfer factors.
Transfer factors are a natural science-based formula that boosts the immune
system. I ordered the product and started giving the capsule to Sammy
twice a day. After one month, I decreased the pill to once a day. It
has been nineteen months since Sammy started his daily dose of transfer
factors and HE IS STILL WITH ME! He is running, playing, jumping,
and climbing up and down the stairs. Sammy has been back to our regular
vet several times for follow-ups and his doctor is always amazed that
he is still alive. Thanks to transfer factors, he is now 12 1/2 years
old. His 13th birthday will be on March 3rd, 2012". Janet C. Painesville, OH

Overcoming Chemotherapy Sickness
"A recent client of mine is a woman with breast, bone and liver cancer
who started taking Marine Phytoplankton about two weeks ago. Previously
unable to keep anything down and having very little energy, she is now
very excited and is experiencing a complete turnaround. She has worked
up to two ounces a day, has much improved energy, and can now eat with
no problem. Her pH has come up from 5.6 to 6.2 as well. Prior to starting
on this program, she had undergone chemotherapy and radiation, which
made her quite ill. Her blood work, after about 10 days, has improved.
Needless to say, she is ecstatic and grateful to have been exposed to
Marine Phytoplankton. Her family can't believe the change!" D. W.
Marine Phytoplankton: Tumor and Cancer
Marine phytoplankton has been called "the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet". Patients receiving
a cancer drug together with phytoplankton exhibited response rates up
to 250 percent better that those obtained by the drug alone. These advanced
cancer patients taking marine phytoplankton experienced regressions of malignant melanoma, renal
cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, lung cancer, and other types of
cancer. Its antioxidants and unique polysaccharides can halt the genetic
mutations that can lead to cancer. Both high levels of saccharides and
adaptogens increase energy and stamina by improving our animal's ability
to consume and use oxygen. Adaptogens also improve cardiovascular health
by strengthening the heart and circulation, and continue to work overtime
while your animal is resting by supporting muscle growth and repair.
At the University of Rhode Island, professor Yuzuru Shimizu is developing
a culturing system that will ensure an adequate supply of sea-based
organisms that show anti-tumor properties. Shimizu is examining metabolites
of single-celled plankton called dinoflagellates, which National Cancer
Institute tests have shown to have cancer-fighting potential. When Tom
Harper, the owner of a facility that grows marine phytoplankton, was
diagnosed with a terminal form of lung cancer, intuition compelled him
to turn to the phytoplankton. After eating
small quantities of this strange substance, he found his health rapidly
restored. Not only was the cancer a thing of his past, but his life-long
challenge to maintain a healthy weight was finally achieved, and he
was able to eliminate his use of insulin - a product that he had been
dependent on for 17 years.
Marine Phytoplankton are a rich source
of glyconutrients. Advanced cancer patients experienced amazing regressions
of malignant melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, lung
cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and malignant hydrothorax. Research
have shown glyconutrients to:
- Reduce the Toxic Effects of Chemotherapy and Radiation
- In one study, glyconutrients was shown to enhance the
effects of radiation in combating lung cancer, allowing a lower
dose to be used. Other research indicates that glyconutrients can
protect against some of the noxious side effects of chemotherapy
- Increases Lymphocyte Count - Lymphocytes are
specialized white blood cells that are of crucial importance to
the adaptive part of the body's immune system. The adaptive portion
of the immune system mounts a tailor-made defense when dangerous
invading organisms penetrate the body's general defenses. Glyconutrients
increases lymphocyte count and helps to activate them when the body
is under attack.
- Enhances Body's Production of Cancer-Fighting IL-2 -
Glyconutrients polysaccharides have been shown in Chinese studies
to enhance the production of IL-2, a crucial cytokine (cell protein)
that induces potent anti-tumor responses in a variety
of cancers. Glyconutrients also kills tumor cells by inducing apoptosis,
a process in which cancer cells are broken down and recycled.
- Helps Manage and Fight Cancer Patients receiving
a cancer drug together with glyconutrients exhibited response rates
up to 250 percent better than those obtained by the drug alone.
These advanced cancer patients experienced amazing regressions of
malignant melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma,
lung cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and malignant hydrothorax.
Remission of cancers in patients treated with glyconutrients lasted
significantly longer than those treated without glyconutrients .
- Dr. Jerry Tennant, M.D. says that
marine phytoplankton contains almost
everything one needs to sustain life and to restore health by providing
the raw materials to make new cells that function normally. Marine
phytoplankton has been called "the most nutritionally dense foods
on the planet". Patients receiving a cancer drug together with phytoplankton
exhibited response rates up to 250 percent better than those obtained
by the drug alone. These advanced cancer patients experienced regressions
of malignant melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma,

consume and use oxygen. Adaptogens also improve cardiovascular health
by strengthening the heart and circulation, and continue to work
overtime while your pet is resting by supporting muscle growth and
repair. Feeding marine phytoplankton and other sea plant algae to
your pet helps promote: shiny hair coat and supple skin - Healthier
and stronger newborns - Improved milk production in lactating bitches
and queens - Improved reproductive performance both for male and
female - Aids in the healing process by offering the vitamins and
minerals necessary for tissue repair - Better utilization and absorption
of nutrients from foods ingested.

The Role of Glutathione, Immunocal in Cancer
Letter of testimonial for 'Immunocal'
for our dog, "Max"!
My name is Tony Luboff. I reside in Ojai, California with my wife
and two children. The other very important member of our family is Max,
a five year old yellow Labrador Retriever. He is very much loved by
all of us, which is why I have put together this letter. About five
months ago, Max became ill, but at the time we did not realize just
how ill. He grew progressively listless, refusing to eat and/or play
with the children or us. He was coughing and choking four to five times an hour. This was totally
uncharacteristic of a very active and most of the time “hungry dog”.
We took him to our Veterinarian, Dr. Tony Kirk on July 21st. Dr.
Kirk thought that Max possibly had a foxtail in his throat but could
not find one. Because his throat looked infected, he was put on antibiotics.
After two rounds of antibiotics he was worse, so we checked for heartworms,
and just about everything else in the book. At this point Dr. Kirk suggested
that a Xray should be done on Max. On August 14th the Xray was done
and we were dismayed to learn that Max was loaded with cancer, particularly
in the area of his lungs. There were two large tumors wrapped around
the bronchials that were pinching off his esophagus. This is why he
was coughing so much. The choking off of his esophagus was also making
it hard for him to eat. He had not been eating for some time and was
losing weight rapidly. The vet said that he would likely have only a
few short painful weeks to live.
We told the Vet about Immunocal and we were amazed that he knew about glutathione. He said
that if we had something that could raise glutathione levels then, by
all means, use it. In the first two weeks we almost had to shove food
down Max's throat and he was still throwing up quite a bit. We tried
to get at least one packet a day into his system. Eventually however,
he was taking his food with a lot of encouragement.
That was over three and a half months ago and we are happy to say
that Max is still with us and with much improved health. His constant
coughing and choking have completely stopped; he has gained back the
12 lbs. of weight that he had lost and we have noticed a marked increase
in his energy level and appetite. Numerous friends have commented on
the fact that Max appears much better and is still around instead of
being dead, which of course is where he was supposed to be. On Thursday,
November 19th we took Max back to the Vet and he was truly amazed. He
accused us of bringing in a different dog! He said that all the congestion
that he heard in his heart and lungs before are completely gone.
We have done nothing else other than give Max this
whey protein immune system booster
called “Immunocal”. To say that we recommend this product would
be an understatement. Thank you Dr. Bounous and Chuck Roberts for bringing
us Immunocal !!
To: Mr. Tony Luboff:
At your request I have prepared a chronological report on your dog,
Max. Just for the records Max is a neutered male, yellow Lab that was
born in 1993. I first saw Max on 7/20/98. At that time his weight was
92.8 pounds and was presented to me a possible foxtail in his throat.
His temperature was 103.0 degrees F. at that time. Throat examination
revealed no foxtail or foxtail tracts. My concern, at that time, was
for tracheal bronchitis. Max was injected with amoxicillin and vetalog.
He was sent home on oral amoxicillin for 10 days. On 7/22/98, it was
reported that he was still coughing but not as much.
Max was seen again on 8/4/98 with a history of the cough worsening
and a temperature of 102.8 degrees F. Max had lost 4.6 pounds and was
coughing much worse after exercising. The heart and lungs sounds were
normal at that time. A Heartworm test was ordered and Max was scheduled
for a throat probe the following day.
The Heartworm test was negative and, Max was dropped off for the
scheduled check. A pre-anaesthetic panel was performed. The results
are as follows: BUN 15, Blood Glucose 80, Total Protein 7.4, PCV 42.
Max was anaesthesied and the throat was explored. During the exploration,
no foreign bodies were found. The tonsils were normal and, with the
exception of a greenish colored material at the beginning of the trachea
and some irritation and redness of the trachea itself; the throat was
On 8/14/98, Max was readmitted for radiographs. The history, at that
time, was a decreased appetite and the weight had dropped to 83.7 pounds.
The cough had worsened. Max was sedated and two 14 x 17 radiographs
were taken of the lungs. The lung fields were congested and a tentative
diagnosis of lung cancer or possible a fungal infection was made. Due
to the poor prognosis of either diagnosis’s, no treatment was advised.
On a “call back” on 8/18/98 it was reported that Max was no better but
he was no worse. It was reported that he was eating better.
During a telephone conversation on 10/22/98 it was reported that
Max’s symptoms were gone and that he was doing much, much better. I
saw Max again on l1/19/98. His weight had increased to 95.9 pounds,
his heart and lung sounds were normal and he seemed to have regained
his health. At last report, Max has completely recovered. I hope this
helps with your project and that old Max keeps on ticking. If I can
be of any further help, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Glutathione is of major significance
in cellular antioxidant activity in what Meister called the "GSH antioxidant
system" because it participates directly in the destruction of reactive
oxygen compounds and also because it maintains in reduced form ascorbate
(vitamin C) and a-tocopherol (vitamin E), which also exerts a. antioxidant effect. The role of glutathione in cancer in a PubMed medical publication

Alaskan sled dog mushers are fortifying their dogs diets with flax oil
as it serves as a source of valuable energy, keeps less desirable saturated
fats mobile in the blood stream, increases oxygen uptake to the cell,
decreases recovery time from strenuous exercise, and prevents and heals
worn and chaffed paws. Numerous studies conducted on animals and humans
show that flax has powerful anti-tumor properties and may reduce tumor
size by 50%.
A testimonial taken from "Flax
Oil and Cancer"
"I have a 13 year old dog. He has cancer. He's eyes are dull and he's
so weak he can't lift his leg. I should have put him to sleep but I
didn't want to. I put a Tbsp. of Flax oil and a half cup of cottage
cheese in his bowl and he wolfed it down. I did that three times a day
for ten weeks. Today he's running all over the place, his eyes are bright,
his coat is shiny and he's gaining weight." That was the 2nd dog I'd
heard of in 3 days that showed improvement from using Flax Seed oil.
The other is owned by my cousin's daughter"
A testimonial about flaxoil and cancer
"My dog Shilo, a 3 1/2 years old Golden Retriever, was diagnosed with Leukemia of the
bone marrow. He was diagnosed on March 19, '99 and the next day I started
him on 3 tablespoons of flaxoil and cottage cheese and within hours
his energy improved. Four days later, on March 24th, I took him back
to the vet and they did a blood test and were baffled because his white
cell count was normal, his red blood cells were normal, and his platelets
were clotting normal, he had no fever, and he was acting like a normal
dog and they didn't understand. On April 13th he had another test and
no cancer cells. HE HAS BEEN CANCER FREE SINCE MARCH 24th 1999. Just
think I spent over $2000.0 on vets to find out what he really needed
was a bottle of flax seed oil that costs about $12.00. Before this he was a very sick dog and according to the vets he was suppose to be dead by now."
Fish Oil Helps Prevent Cancer
Several mechanisms have been proposed by which the intake of marine
fats may lower the risk of cancer. Among the most important of these
is the inhibition of eicosanoid biosynthesis from arachidonic acid (AA;
20:4n-6), an omega-6 fat metabolized in the body from linoleic acid.
Eicosanoids are a class of compounds derived from polyunsaturated acids
and include prostaglandins, hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids, and leukotrienes.
Prostaglandins are oxygenated, unsaturated cyclic fats that perform
a variety of hormone-like actions. Those converted from AA by the cyclooxygenase-2
enzyme, notably prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), have been linked to carcinogenesis
in several types of studies:
* Animal experiments of mammary tumor development,
* Studies of the proliferation of breast and prostate cancer cell lines
in vitro, and
* Human studies of fish oil intake, epithelial cell proliferation rates,
and PGE2 biosynthesis.
Tumor cells typically produce large amounts of AA-derived PGE2, which
may impede immune system function, possibly through its role in the
generation of suppressor T cells. Fish oils inhibit cyclooxygenase-2
and the oxidative metabolism of AA to PGE2.

Wheatgrass: a Powerful Cancer Fighter
Staff members of the Institute who lived with cats reported their
animals had less illness once they provided wheat grass regularly. They
noted that fur was more beautiful, and life spans longer. Formerly arthritic
older cats who could barely get in and out of the litter box, were jumping
on top of high surfaces. Immune systems in all the cats grew strong
and common sicknesses much more easily resisted. Sores and strange
lumps would disappear.

"One month ago, this cat's hindquarters became paralyzed, and she was forced to ambulate by dragging herself by her forelegs only; bowel movements became virtually nonexistent. After one week of steady juicing, elimination functions have resumed and her rear legs are moving again! It efficiently presents in layman's
terms how to heal using food and juice combinations based on the chemical
elements contained therein. Of course, in pets, you just have to give
very small portions (literally, 1/2-teaspoon amounts) to see results.
And because the right combination of juices will taste good to them,
animals willingly take the juice mixed into their foods -- resulting
in less stress on both owner and pet. So now my cats get vegetable-only
juice and the dogs get the pulp -- so there's no waste -- all are getting
healthy, and I'm saving $$$ on vet bills."

Bee pollen as a healthy supplement
One of the most important articles ever published on bee pollen comes
from our own United States Department of Agriculture. This article,
entitled "Delay in the Appearance of Palpable Mammary Tumors
in C3H Mice Following the Ingestion of PolIenized Food," is
the work of William Robinson of the Bureau of Entomology, Agriculture
Research Administration. It was published in the Journal of the National
Cancer Institute way back in October 1948, five decades ago. According
to the article, Dr. Robinson started with mice that had been specially
bred to develop and subsequently die from tumors. He explains, "The
age at which mice of this strain developed tumors ranged from 18 to
57 weeks, with an average appearance at 33 weeks. Tumor incidence was
100 percent." Given the fact that cancer is the number-two killer in
the United States (heart disease is number one), we can all certainly
agree that this is an electrifying article. What happened from it? Nothing.
Even the National Cancer Institute, which published it, failed to follow
up on this very promising line of research. It was dropped with no explanation."
Bee pollen was fed to hundreds of animals over a period of two years
by scientist-researcher Dr. Remy Chauvin of the Institute for Bee Culture
in Bures-sur-Yvette, France. Reporting to the French Academy of Medicine
in 1956, Chauvin said, there were no side effects in the test animals.
Furthermore, the use of bee pollen gave the animals increased vitality
and improved "powers of reproduction" because of boosted fertility.
Two Popular Herbal Remedies for Cancer
by Richard Walters
The types of cancer said to respond best to the treatment include
lymphoma, melanoma, and external
(skin) cancer. The clinic's patient brochure includes case
histories of patients successfully treated for breast,
cervical, prostate, colon,
and lung cancers
For over three decades, Harry Hoxsey (1901-1974), a self-taught healer,
cured many cancer patients using an herbal remedy reportedly handed
down by his great-grandfather. By the 1950s, the Hoxsey Cancer Clinic
in Dallas was the world's largest private cancer center, with branches
in seventeen states. Born in Illinois, the charismatic practitioner
of herbal folk medicine faced unrelenting opposition and harassment
from a hostile medical establishment. Nevertheless, two federal courts
upheld the "therapeutic value" of Hoxsey's internal tonic. Even his
archenemies, the American Medical Association and the Food and Drug
Administration, admitted that his treatment could cure some forms of
cancer. A Dallas judge ruled in federal court that Hoxsey's therapy
was "comparable to surgery, radium, and x-ray" in its effectiveness,
without the destructive side effects of those treatments. But in the
1950s, at the tail end of the McCarthy era, Hoxsey's clinics were shut
down. The AMA, NCI, and FDA organized a "conspiracy" to "suppress" a
fair, unbiased assessment of Hoxsey's methods, according to a 1953 federalreport
to Congress. Hoxsey's Dallas clinic closed its doors in 1960, and three
years later, at Hoxsey'srequest, Mildred Nelson, R.N., his long-time
chief nurse, moved the operation to Tijuana, Mexico.
Giving Essiac to Pets - "Sven felt much better within a week or so of taking essiac. His
appetite and digestion improved dramatically, his coat improved, and
he was much livelier. When essiac doesn't cure a pet's cancer, it certainly
may improve the quality of their remaining life, and give them more
time with you. I would give milk thistle with the essiac right away,
as it buffers liver function "
Liver Remedies When a dysfunctional
liver goes undetected as an underlying cause, it can lead to an endless
cycle of failed solutions and further guessing.
Cancer in Animals Associated with Toxic Chemicals
A hospital-based case-control study of companion dogs examined the risk
of developing canine malignant lymphoma associated with the use of chemicals
in and about the home. The study indicated that owners in households
with dogs that developed malignant lymphoma applied 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic
acid (2,4-D) herbicides to their lawn and/or employed commercial lawn
care companies to treat their yard significantly more frequently than
control owners(odds ratio = 1.3).
In addition, the risk of canine malignant lymphoma rose to a twofold
excess with four or more yearly owner applications of 2,4-D. The findings
in this study are consistent with occupational studies in humans, which
have reported modest associations between agricultural exposure to 2,4-D
and increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the history and epidemiology
of which are similar to those of canine malignant lymphoma.
Insecticides Associated with Bladder Cancer in Dogs - A statistically significant
association between exposure to topical flea and tick dips, and the
occurrence of bladder cancer in dogs has been found. The risk of bladder
cancer was increased further in dogs living in proximity to areas sprayed
regularly with insecticides for mosquitoes. An increased rate of bladder
cancer in humans has recently been reported (Journal of Toxicology and
Environmental Health, 1989(28): 407-414).
What about flea sprays and shampoo?
Excerpt from Catherine O'Driscoll's writing
"Did you know that many flea collars contain carbaryl? Do you know
what carbaryl has been shown to do to animals in laboratories? It causes
cancer, mutates cells, and causes birth defects. How safe is it for
your dog to wear a flea collar around his neck for up to four months?
And why do the manufacturers tell us to stop our children touching the
collar? And the flea sprays - read the instructions. Are you told not
to breathe in whilst spraying your dog? Can you tell your dog not to
breathe? And what's in all the flea killing shampoos? One of them, at
least, contains a chemical that has been shown to cause cance rif taken
in through the skin!"
If it's not OK for your child, why is it OK for your dog?
"...We have a dog shampoo in England that contains piperonyl butoxide.
This has been shown to cause cancer in animals when absorbed through
the skin. We have a flea collar containing carbaryl. This is a mutagen,
and has been shown to be carcinogenicand teratogenic in laboratory animals
Cancer of the thyroid and toxic chemicals
Email May 2001- testimonial from Laura
"My poodle has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid
and given a life sentence of 6 months. After hours and hours of crying
and staying up all night just "watching" her, I got on tons of websites
and read tons of articles on processed foods, chemicals, and exactly
what environmental factors could have caused Genie's cancer. I live
in a beautifully maintained townhouse community and think there is a
connection between the lawn fertilizer and her cancer. I used to bring
her to the vet every year for her vaccinations and felt great after
we left...like when you leave the dentist. Little did I know I was killing
her slowly. I will no longer give her or my cat another vaccine (my
cat's name is Lillie!!). I now am more informed, but unfortunately for
Genie, it's too late. Your article inspired me to pursue my Association's
use of chemicals for the lawn. I am also now feeding my animals organically
based, home made food. Good bye to Mighty Dog and Friskies. I thought
the most expensive brands were the best. Now I realize I have been feeding
fecal matter, roadkill and euthanized companion animals (domesticated
dogs and cats) to my furry children. I am much wiser and hope that my
new found wisdom extends the life of my Genie just a little longer.
Thanks for writing back and keep going with what feels right in your
heart." - Laura
Is Cancer Curable In Homeopathy?
A growing number of veterinarians are turning to homeopathic veterinary
medicine as a safe and effective alternative to conventional veterinary
practice (including the use of antibiotics). There is so much that can
be done for an animal, bird, or reptile that is ailingby utilizing homeopathic
"Cancer like other diseases is curable in Homeopathy. Why and how ? To understand this, one has to understand the basic principle of homeopathy. According to the principle of cure in Homeopathy, there is nothing that is incurable provided there is sufficient energy 'Vital Force' in the patient at the time of taking to or restorting to homeopathic treatment. According to homeopathic scientists, without the cause, there cannot be a disease. So the cause should be traced. If we find out the root of the disease than there must be a medicine for it." Nature of Animal Healing : The Definitive Holistic Medicine Guide to
Caring for Your Dog and Cat
by Martin Goldstein D.V.M.
Dr. Goldstein--a graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary
Medicine explains his approach to alternative treatment: what it is,
how it works, and why it's especially important that animals be treated
holistically. Holistic pet care essentially revolves around the notion
that the best way to cure an animal who is ill is to help the animal
cure itself. We are not the true healers of our pets--they are. By treating
the root of the problem instead of its symptoms, holistic medicine enables
our pets to regain and maintain their own health. In his practice, Dr.
Goldstein has had extraordinary success treating cancer and leukemia.
Reviewer:"I have been providing our dogs with alternative health
treatments since 1995. I was fed up with conventional care--too many
pills that merely masked underlying illnesses and no real treatment.
Our dogs have glowing health and everyone remarks on their vigor and
beautiful coats. Dr. Goldstein, because of his successes with cancer
and chronic illnesses, has conventional veterinarians quaking in their
boots. So much of medicine is run by the profit motive, totally denying
the Hippocratic oath taken by doctors and vets. Think of the marketing
of pet foods and vaccinations in the office of the vet--two of the biggest
money-makers in the industry. It is no wonder those boots are quaking.
I implore you to read this book for the sake of your pets' health."A
