Today, in Africa and other so-called third world countries,
the AIDS nightmare is continuing and growing more frightening as each day
goes by. Not because of any viral pandemic, sweeping across the plains
of Africa, but because of an orchestrated pandemic of lies and deceit,
sweeping across the globe via a Western-controlled media campaign.
In actual fact, it is pre-existing illnesses (the majority of which could
be treated relatively easily and cheaply, but which are not) which are
now accounting for so much of these spiralling conventional AIDS death
statistics.
The World Health Organisation, World Bank, UNAIDS, associated UN organisations,
the pharmaceutical giants and related media colleagues etc., are manipulating
the current AIDS 'epidemic' in order to continue with their scare-mongering
AIDS DEATH HEADLINES. More shamefully, these organisations are now
colluding in the delivery of toxic drugs into Africa and other so-called
third world countries, with the express intent of using these drugs as
a form of population control in the recipient nations.

and HIV-positive asymptomatic individuals, including pregnant women, have
long been treated with toxic antiviral drugs (AZT, Protease Inhibitors,
as well as Nevirapine) that can cause serious systemic injuries and even
death. This is erroneously based on the assumption that HIV is the cause
of AIDS. Furthermore, the long-term effects of these drugs on the composition
of the human genomes have not been determined. Prior to October of 1997,
I believed that HIV was the cause of AIDS based solely on the information
that had been reported by the United States Center for Diseases Control
and Prevention (CDC) and the AIDS establishment. However, my view was unquestionably
changed when I evaluated the medical evidence on the worldwide AIDS epidemic.
My findings clearly show: 1) The HIV-hypothesis is not supported by any
medical fact and AIDS is caused by agents and factors other than HIV. 2)
The proponents of the HIV-hypothesis have long overlooked crucial and essential
medical evidence that clearly describes the real causes of AIDS. 3) The
results of clinical studies on AZT, protease inhibitors, and nevirapine
indicate that these agents can cause severe systemic damage, AIDS, and
death. However, it is my opinion that the US Federal Drug Administration
inappropriately approved these drugs to be given to pregnant women and
individuals with serious health problems. My in-depth research findings
are described in my book "Get All the Facts: HIV Does Not Cause AIDS" in
addition to my other articles [1-7]. Below are examples that were selected

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) - The ruling African National Congress
has given its top officials a document that questions the existence of
AIDS, condemns AIDS drugs as poisonous and describes Western attitudes
to the pandemic in Africa as blatant racism. more
I reviewed many published studies that described the impact of malnutrition
on the functions and the structure of the immune system of people in Africa.
These studies clearly demonstrate that the main cause of AIDS in Africa
is severe starvation and not HIV. I described these studies in my book
“
Get All The Facts: HIV Does Not Cause AIDS”[1]. The functions of the
immune system, especially the cellular immunity, are impaired in malnourished
individuals. For example, the size of the thymus of 42 malnourished children
was reduced by 90% as compared with a case-match normal controls[2]. In
a second study involving 110 malnourished children, the thymic area was
found to be 20% of the size in healthy children[3].
 High
prevalence of malnutrition in Africa and other developing countries has
been documented by Fauci et al.[4]. They stated that the magnitude of malnutrition
problem worldwide is immense. Protein energy malnutrition (PEM) may be
present in endemic form in developing nations and under famine conditions
the prevalence may approach 25 percent. In 1983, the World Health Organization
estimated that 300 million children had growth retardation secondary to
malnutrition. Cell-mediated immunity is impaired as indicated by all standard
tests in individuals suffering from PEM and common infections and opportunistic
infections can lead to increased morbidity and mortality. In addition,
nearly every aspect of reproduction is impaired
in the woman with PEM, including implantation, fetal growth, lactation,
and parturition. The infants are stunted in size and may have cognitive
impairment if they survive [4] Yet, Anthony Fauci and the AIDS establishment
have continued to overlook these facts and maintained the claim that HIV
is the cause of AIDS in Africa.

Dr Christian Fiala, an Austrian doctor with many years of extensive
research on the epidemiological data on HIV/Aids in Europe, USA, Africa
and Thailand, including a fact finding mission to Uganda and Tanzania,

According to the UN and WHO, 20.8 million Africans (two-thirds of the
global total) are either Aids infected or living with HIV without knowing
it. If the African "sufferers" themselves do not know they are infected,
how did the UN and WHO know?, asks Baffour Ankomah back from a two-month

Africa
must make a stand over Aids
Africa must stand up and condemn the Western world for stigmatising
it as the epicenter of Aids. Much of the literature and statistics which
are being peddled about Aids are wrong. And there is not even a reliable
Aids test. Is there a hidden agenda, asks John Kamau?
 In
1999 I wrote a book, The River, which proposed the hypothesis that AIDS
might be iatrogenic (caused by physicians), and that scientists might have
unwittingly started the pandemic through an experimental oral polio vaccine
(OPV) administered in central Africa in the 1950s. That book touched more
buttons than I had anticipated, for it sparked a major cover-up among those
who had been involved with making the vaccine, and among powerful interest
groups within the medical community. The attempted whitewash persuaded
me to continue my researches. I have now been exclusively researching AIDS
for 20 years, and its origins for 16. And whereas I was 95% persuaded of
the merits of the vaccine theory when The River was published in 1999,
I am now (in 2006) 99.9% persuaded that this is how AIDS began.
 In
Africa polio does not kill anybody and they say it's very rare to catch.
It's really very rare to get paralytic polio. They say it's in very rare
circumstances, so what is it that is killing people in Africa ? Malaria.
Every five seconds a child is dying of malaria in Africa. Now to get the
dose of life-saving anti-malaria is about $5 but there is no government
to give anti-malaria. When somebody gets malaria, if they have no money
they even die. So the question I was asking and many people were asking
was 'If you really want to help children, why begin with a disease that
they don't have ? (applause) Why not look for something that is killing
them and save them from what is killing them ?' And then (inaudible) .............
'you know what, I like you very much. I save your children from this killer
disease. Now there are no other diseases apart from this rare polio, so
let's go and fight that as well.' But you don't begin with the rarest disease
and spend all the government's meagre resources fighting polio, which is
not a threat to most people, and then ignore something that is killing
them in large numbers like malaria, like AIDS, like cholera, issues to
do with sanitation, stunted growth - all the main things that matter to
people the government was not fighting.
Does
HIV Really Cause Aids?

"While funding for AIDS "research" and "care" has vastly increased in
Africa, funding for malaria control has practically disappeared. In addition,
with the spread of a genuine scourge -- global capitalism -- all that does
not directly lead to profit is banned. This means that government expenditures
are to be cut. And since poor people can't pay enough to guarantee profits
for the costs of clean drinking water, health care, decent food and housing
-- well, then their health must suffer. Interestingly, in Africa a persistent
fever, dry cough, and weight loss is enough to classify a patient as an
AIDS case. Poverty, you see, has nothing to do with it. It's all caused
by a simple retro-virus (HIV) that has never even been seen as a whole
particle."
"..I also reviewed numerous AZT clinical trials and found that AZT is
a very toxic drug, especially to the stem cells in bone marrow (the source
of T and B lymphocytes) [1]. For example, Fischl et al. conducted a randomized
controlled trial in 524 subjects who had a first episode of Pneumocystis
carinii pneumonia [7]. These subjects received AZT in either a dose of
250 mg taken orally every four hours (n=262) or a dose of 200 mg taken
orally every four hours for four weeks and thereafter 100 mg taken every
four hours (n=262). In this study, additional AIDS-defining opportunistic
infections developed in 429 subjects (82%) in the AZT treated groups. Furthermore,
the hemoglobin levels declined to less than 80 g per liter (baseline= 121
g per liter) in 178 subjects; the neutrophil counts declined to less than
750 per ul (baseline = 2200 per ul) in 230 subjects; and one hundred thirty-four
subjects received red-cell transfusions. One hundred eighty-three subjects
(35%) were withdrawn from AZT therapy because of toxic reactions such as
severe anemia and neutropenia. At 24 months of treatment, the mortality
rates were 66% and 73% in the low and standard AZT doses, respectively.
The results of the AZT clinical trials unmistakably show that AZT is a
poison and not a cure. However, the US FDA approved AZT as treatment for
AIDS patients and HIV-positive asymptomatic pregnant women based on the
assumption that HIV causes AIDS. Giving AZT, which destroys bone marrow
cells and fast growing tissues (embryonic and fetal tissues) to people
with AIDS and malnourished pregnant women, is just like putting gasoline

DOUBTS OVER AIDS INFECTION AS HIV TEST DECLARED INVALID

"The "AIDS test" is scientifically invalid and incapable of determining
whether people are really infected with HIV, according to a new report
by a team of Australian scientists who have conducted the first extensive
review of research surrounding the test. The authors say that neither of
the two main HIV tests used have been adequately checked for accuracy.
These tests rely on detecting antibodies to HIV in blood samples. But people
whose immune systems have been activated by several other conditions, including
tuberculosis and multiple sclerosis, can trigger the same reaction, giving
a false-positive result."
Are
26 million Africans dying of AIDS? - "the biggest lie of the century" under
fire
1st December is "World Aids Day". In the run-up to it, the Aids Establishment
has been issuing some dubious figures about a "pandemic" of Aids in Africa.
TV documentaries to be broadcast on, or before, 1 December have been lined
up in Britain and elsewhere to reinforce the Establishment line. But how
accurate are these figures? One African doctor calls it "the biggest lie
of the century". Joan Shenton, the award-winning British TV producer and
journalist says "it's all bad science". Fortunately, the evidence on the
ground in Africa so far doesn't support the "pandemic" figures. Baffour

TIME: You've been criticized for playing down the link between HIV and
AIDS. Where do you now stand on this very controversial issue?
Mbeki: Clearly there is such a thing as acquired immune deficiency.
The question you have to ask is what produces this deficiency. A whole
variety of things can cause the immune system to collapse. Now it is perfectly
possible that among those things is a particular virus. But the notion
that immune deficiency is only acquired from a single virus cannot be sustained.
Once you say immune deficiency is acquired from that virus your response
will be antiviral drugs. But if you accept that there can be a variety
of reasons, including poverty and the many diseases that afflict Africans,
then you can have a more comprehensive treatment response.
TIME: Are you prepared to acknowledge that there is a link between HIV
and AIDS?
Mbeki: No, I am saying that you cannot attribute immune deficiency
solely and exclusively to a virus. There may very well be a virus. But
TB, for example, destroys the immune system and at a certain point if you
have TB you will test hiv positive because the immune system is fighting
the TB which is destroying it. Then you will go further to say TB is an
opportunistic disease of aids whereas in fact TB is the thing that destroyed
the immune system in the first place. But if you come to the conclusion
that the only thing that destroys immune systems is hiv then your only
response is to give them antiretroviral drugs. There's no point in attending
to this TB business because that's just an opportunistic disease. If the
scientists ... say this virus is part of the variety of things from which
people acquire immune deficiency, I have no problem with that.

A. Giraldo, MD writes: "Researchers and the institutions
searching for the cause of AIDS in the early 1980's and that still are
the ones that make the policies for AIDS worldwide, seem to ignore that
there exist epidemics of toxic diseases, epidemics of nutritional deficiencies,
epidemics of high blood pressure, epidemics of cancer, epidemics of mental
diseases, epidemics of allergies, etc. They can only think about epidemics
of infectious diseases. Also, it seems as if they all ignored that regular
diseases can affect gay people." "...during the last few decades and due

ecosystem, new medical sciences have had to be created: dermatotoxicology,

to guaranty the future of our species. We ought to stop panicking about
germs. Currently the real problems are toxicants,
poverty and malnutrition."

President Mbeki might have a case on
rethinking AIDS
International Aids
Conference at the Uganda Martyrs University in Nkozi, Uganda
South Africa’s Chief Family Practitioner, Prof Sam Mhlongo, told participants
that there is no existing evidence that the Human Immuno Deficiency Virus
(HIV) causes Aids or that it even exists. The Nkozi conference had brought
together medical scientists, sociologists, political analysts, health workers,
journalists, and long term HIV-positive survivors from across the world.
Delegates to the Nkozi conference urged Africa to reject the term co-factors.
They decried what they termed bloated HIV/Aids statistics on the continent
. The delegates to the conference also rejected the notion that Aids originated
from Africa. Said Uganda Martyrs University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof
Peter Kanyandago, negative imaging and stereotyping of Africans has led
to the justification that Aids originated from Africa. Drugs that are not
working in the West are being dumped in Africa, said Dr Rheeta Moran, Senior
Researcher at Salford University, UK. Kevin Corbett, Senior Lecturer in
Primary Care, St George’s Hospital Medical School and Kingston University,
London, criticised HIV testing especially in Africa. Cobertt says that
the tests are inaccurate, unspecified and insensitive. The HIV test looks
for the presence of anti-bodies and pregnancy is one of the conditions
that registers a positive result, says Mhlongo. He added that diseases
prevalent in Africa such as malaria, SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosis),
dysentery, tropical diarrhoea, dehydration, rheumatic athritis, hepatitis,
flu vaccine, drugs (especially nitrites) and many more will also register
an anti-body positive. At the end of the Nkozi conference delegates made
recommendations for Africa which included:

that Africa should suspend all HIV/Aids testing until the virus has been
isolated;
-
African countries suspend use of anti-retrovirals for treatment of Aids
until the virus is isolated
-
governments develop and use a framework for legal litigation against anyone
promoting use of toxic drugs;
-
that search for an HIV vaccine be suspended and resources re-routed to
more pressing health problems;
-
African scientists be encouraged to carry out their own research;
-
encourage use of tried, tested and researched African non-toxic remedies;
-
setting up of an African research institute and care centre and,
-
all adverts relating to HIV/Aids be banned.

Post Article and President Mbeki's Letter to World Leaders
Mbeki wrote in the hand-addressed letters that it "would constitute
a
criminal betrayal of our responsibility to our own people" to mimic foreign
approaches to treating the disease. He insisted on South Africa's right
to consult dissident scientists who deny that the human immunodeficiency
virus, or HIV, causes AIDS. And he accused unnamed foreign critics of launching
a "campaign of intellectual intimidation and terrorism" akin to medieval
book-burnings and "the racist apartheid tyranny we opposed."
South Africa's President Mbeki: "It is suggested, for instance,
that there are some scientists who are 'dangerous and discredited' with
whom nobody, including ourselves, should communicate or interact. In an
earlier period in human history, these would be heretics that would be
burnt at the stake! Not long ago, in our own country, people were killed,
tortured, imprisoned and prohibited from being quoted in private and in
public because the established authority believed that their views were
dangerous and discredited. We are now being asked to do precisely the same
thing that the racist apartheid tyranny we opposed did, because, it is
said, there exists a scientific view that is supported by the majority,
against which dissent is prohibited."
"The scientists we are supposed to put into scientific quarantine include
Nobel Prize Winners, Members of Academies of Science and Emeritus Professors
of various disciplines of medicine! Scientists, in the name of science,
are demanding that we should cooperate with them to freeze scientific discourse
on HIV-AIDS at the specific point this discourse had reached in the West

President Thabo Mbeki said that propaganda was being made against him because
of his stance on HIV/Aids; this was a foretaste of attempts to undermine
him and South Africa that were being mounted by those determined to defend
the established world economic order. Spoke approvingly of a conference
of about 60 dissident scientists held in Uganda in September (the conference
said there was no scientific proof that HIV causes Aids and that HIV was
merely a passenger virus caused by other factors); quoted from a document
from that conference challenging the view that HIV causes Aids; said (again)
that the HI virus had never been isolated; and said reports suggesting
that Uganda had scored significant successes in the fight against Aids
were untrue (Uganda's anti-Aids campaign, which involved a massive publicity
drive spearheaded by the country's president, has been hailed internationally
as a success for reducing HIV infection rates between 1992 and 1996). Told
ANC MPs it was their duty to inform themselves so that they could counter
the huge propaganda offensive that was being mounted to say that HIV caused
Aids. Repeated his view that if one agrees that HIV causes Aids, then it
follows that the condition must be treated with drugs, and those drugs
are produced by the big Western drug companies; these drug companies therefore
need HIV to cause Aids, so they promote the thesis that HIV causes Aids;
he said one of the big drug companies (which he did not name) had confessed
to him that it had wasted vast amounts of money trying to produce an anti-Aids
vaccine but had given up after it had failed to isolate the HI virus; but
this company was hiding this fact in order to prevent its share price falling
through the floor; drug companies were only interested in developing medicines
to combat a disease if they could make a profit out of that disease.
President Thabo Mbeki said that the CIA had become involved in covertly
promoting the view that HIV causes Aids; as part of the same effort, the
US government was ignoring what the dissidents' conference in Uganda had
demonstrated and was giving loans to African governments so that the latter
could buy drugs from US drug companies. Repeated (challenged) statistics
which, he said, showed that only 10% of Africans died of Aids; said it
made no sense to focus all one's energies on this 10%, ignoring the other
90%; said an example of this absurd focus, promoted by the big drug companies,
was the call to concentrate on Aids orphans; how could the government distinguish
between the needs of Aids and non-Aids orphans?

AIDS is bringing to American researchers alone a whopping $1.3 billion
a year. The money flows in because the world believes that HIV alone causes
AIDS. lf the hypothesis is thrown out the window tomorrow, the money will
dry up and the AIDS Establishment will become an emperor without clothes.
Hundreds of thousands of highly-paid jobs linked directly or indirectly
to the AIDS industry will go. And the Establishment knows it! So they will
keep both the "hypothesis" and the "illusion" going for as long as they
can.
The so-called "millions of AIDS cases in Africa" forecast by the WHO,
as Hodgkinson points out in his book, have more to do with the WHO's "unworkable"
definition of African AIDS: "Weight loss of more than 10%, chronic diarrhoea
lasting more than a month, and prolonged fever (intermittent or constant)
lasting more than a month".
"We see here", Hodgkinson says, "what a mental tangle the HIV story
has created... Tuberculosis plus a positive HIV test result lis] AIDS in
Africa, but not in America".
In fact, the WHO definition of African AIDS was attacked in a November
1991 letter to the British Medical Journal by a group of Western doctors
led by K. M. de Cock who asked for more widespread HIV testing in Africa
before the continent was condemned.
They wrote: "Many patients with TB, irrespective of HIV state, have
weight loss, fever, and cough, and the WHO clinical case definition for
AIDS therefore has a low specificity in this population. Unless the results
of HIV tests are known, many patients with TB who have no HIV infection
might be reported as having AIDS".
This was exactly what the Krynens found in Tanzania but their findings
were unpalatable to the ears of the AIDS Establishment. Suddenly, "the
stars of African AIDS research" as Philippe and Evelyne had been seen by
the Establishment, had to be dropped from grace to grass.
All the long international Aid conferences that the Establishment had
sponsored Philippe to attend and present papers did not matter any longer.
The Empire wanted its pound of flesh. And the knife came swiftly.
First, the Krynen's annual grant of PS 350,000 from the European Union
was withdrawn. Then they were given 14 days to leave Tanzania. Only an
11th-hour reprieve by the forward-looking Tanzanian Prime Minister J. S.
Malecela saved the day for Philippe and his wife. Malecela saw through
the pressure from abroad and decided he would not throw out the French
couple whose only sin was to be truthful about the state of AIDS in Africa.

"Missing money doesn't mean you are missing the point. The 'Aid-makers'

Vitamin A: In a study in Africa (Lancet, June 25, 1994, page 1593),
pregnant women with the highest serum levels of Vitamin A reduced HIV transmission
to their offspring to 7% compared to those with the lowest blood levels
of Vitamin A who had a HIV transmission rate of 32% to their offspring.
The authors of the article, Semba, Miotti, Saah at al, wrote: The underlying
biological mechanisms concerning vitamin A in mother-to-child transmission
may include the essential role vitamin A plays in immunity and maintenance
of mucosal surfaces...Lack of vitamin A is associated with compromised
T-cell and B-cell function which may contribute to higher viral loads...In
contrast, a study with AZT(Zidovudine), in HIV+ pregnant women showed that
the group receiving the AZT reduced the rate of HIV transmission to 8.3%
compared to 25.5% in the control group. Vitamin A certainly was as
effective as AZT in reducing the rate of HIV transmission. The unasked
question is whether vitamin A reduced the rate of HIV transmission because
it activated the immune system to produce more white blood cells which
in turn produced antibodies to inactivate the HIV virus. On a side
note, one person I spoke with recently told me that several years ago,
when he had low white blood cells, his physician prescribed vitamin A supplementation
to build up the white blood cells. He told me his white blood cells returned
to normal values. Increasing white blood cell counts through vitamin A
supplementation, suntanning or through the use of the drug, Neupogen, available

CIA Report on HIV/AIDS Baseless

New Delhi: JackIndia, an NGO working in the field of HIV/AIDS, has charged
the US intelligence agency CIA of creating an AIDS scare here by claiming
India would have 25 million HIV positive cases by 2010.
The organization has also accused the CIA of furthering the business
interests of Bill Gates and his company Microsoft.
JackIndia (Joint Action Council Kannur India) Convenor Purushottam Mulloli
has written to US President Geoge Bush demanding that the CIA either
reveal
evidence in support of its exaggerated report or withdraw it, as it
has far
reaching implications. The CIA report talks of India presently having
5-8
million AIDS patients as compared to the National AIDS Control
Organisation's figure of 3.86 million.
''Mr Gates interest in HIV/AIDS projects in India is not meant for charity,
as it appears. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contributing funds
to
fight AIDS is to protect his billions of dollars of investments in
pharmaceutical companies interested in conducting field trials in India,''
Mr Mulloli said.
Health Minister Shatrughan Sinha has already rejected the CIA report,
and
the National Intelligence Council clearly stated the CIA estimates
to be
'highly exaggerated' and not based on surveillance data collected in
India.
Mr Gates has reportedly funded the controversial report and also made
huge
investments in companies involved in AIDS drug research.
Charging that the CIA's direct and unwarranted involvement in Indian
public
health issues amounted to direct intervention in its domestic affairs
and a
challenge to its soverignity, Mr Mulloli questioned the basis on which
the
CIA said that 310,000 people had died in India due to AIDS in 1999
alone.
The Indian Parliament talked of a mere 114 AIDS related deaths in 1999.
The Gates Foundation, which had awarded Family Health International
a 6.5
million three year grant for multinational clinical trial to evaluate
an
anti-retro viral treatment as a novel approach to HIV prevention, would
focus on sexually active adults in resource poor countries with high
HIV
prevalence, he pointed out.
''In other words, inflated HIV figures now provide a license for HIV
negative sexually young people to be subject to HIV drug trials in
countries
like India,'' he observed.
JackIndia also charged that the CIA report had chosen countries like
Nigeria, India, Ethopia, Russia, China and India which were strategically
important for US interests, with a view to exploit market and human
resources of these ''HIV afflicted'' developing nations in a coldblooded
manner for its own benefit.

India has rejected an US intelligence agency report which projects that
the
country will have over 25 million people suffering with AIDS by 2010
even as
an NGO charged that the report was aimed at exploiting Indian market
for
AIDS drugs and vaccines.
"It is completely inaccurate to claim that India will have over 25 million
people living with HIV/AIDS by 2010² Union Health Minister Shatrughan
Sinha
said on Saturday.
Mr Sinha and the NGO, Jackindia, sought the details on which these estimates
were based. Drawing links between the CIA report and Bill
Gates' visit to India, the NGO claimed the CIA report has been funded
by
Gates and the purpose was commercial exploitation of Indian people
by
creating markets for AIDS drugs and vaccines.

Dear President Bush,
We are well aware of your war on terror and your concerns regarding
US
national security threats ever since the horrifying and unforgivable
attacks
on the USA on September 11, 2001. You are also well known for your
strong
and proactive actions against countries that you perceive as posing
a threat
to US national security.
Hence we are extremely alarmed at reading the US Central Intelligence
Agency
(CIA) report that defines India as a national security threat on grounds
of
HIV/AIDS related issues.
As we understand, the Indian government has supported your actions against
rogue terrorist states right from the start. But nevertheless, India
has now
become a target to be addressed under the same category due to the
CIA¹s
intelligence perceptions about HIV/AIDS in India.
The report projects India as one among five nations that will become
a
³major security threat² to the US based on suggestions the
HIV cases in
India will number about 25 million by 2010, making it the single country
with the highest number of HIV infections by the end of the decade.
Such an
epidemic is expected to cause ³political instability and law and
order
problems² that will ultimately lead to ³rise of terrorism.²
We register our strongest protest of such a labeling.
We challenge the authority, authenticity and scientific validity of
this
internal intelligence report and the audacity with which you seek to
turn it
into a global concern. The moment you make such internal documents
unclassified and publicize them, you make them an international issue.
If
indeed these are major global concerns, it ought to involve a collaborative
effort, not an internal unilateral document of one nation to be pushed
down
the throats of concerned nations and a concerned world.
The extensive publicity the report has received internationally will
only
bring unwarranted and unfair international pressure on the Indian government
to toe various prescribed lines while expanding your scope and freedom
for
military-political activities.
As far as we understand, the CIA is not mandated to take over public
health
issues of other countries. The CIA has no business superceding and
overriding all other national and UN bodies set up specifically for
addressing these health concerns.
The CIA report states that the figures derive from ³consensus estimates
by
experts.² What is meant by consensus on statistics? A ballot system?
A count
of hands? Majority votes? Are all the best scientific methods of disease
surveillance promoted globally by agencies like the World Health
Organization and followed by the Indian government to be thrown into
the
dustbin in favor of this novel data collection method evolved by US
intelligence?
As the report states, these experts include heads of American health
institutes that say its intelligence estimates ³go beyond official
statistics which sometimes understate the number of infected people.²
These
estimates ignore UNAIDS statistics and the ³unreliable² official
government
statistics from each country. Yet the report carefully suggests at

The report projects India¹s current HIV/AIDS infections as numbering
5 to 8
million while the Indian government estimates, gathered through a
nationwide, internationally approved Sentinel Surveillance System have
consistently shown over the last four years a relatively stable infection
rate of 3.5 to 4 million. Based on this evidence, the government of
India
issued a statement that ³HIV infection rates in India have stabilized.²
No agency, organization or institution other than National AIDS Control
Organization (NACO), Ministry of Health and the government of India
has
access to a nationwide HIV/AIDS database. We already have evidence
that our
government data errs more by overestimations of HIV figures. Yet your
intelligence report ignores government collected data to quote an
arbitrarily derived higher figure of 5 to 8 million HIV cases.
This is more an effort to bully other nations while misleading your
own
people the hard working, well-meaning American taxpayers whose
money will
be whisked away to fight imaginary epidemics in ³unfortunate²
nations like
ours.
Although poor, this is not a nation of idiots and information flows
in more
ways than you can control. This is a nation that believes in non-violence,
but do not underestimate the response that a billion people are capable
of
giving when it concerns their stability and security.
We demand that the CIA immediately withdraw this report, since it has
no
scientific basis and dangerous and far-reaching implications, or have
its
panel of experts who prepared the report present the Indian public
with the
scientific evidence for their conclusions.

Preventing and curing AIDS is this century's most lucrative profession.
Western pharmaceutical companies fared badly over the last few years,
as the
world health situation improved on broader parameters, with the improved
availability of basic medicines. Then, AIDS conveniently came along;
incurable, and fatal. What more could pharmaceutical companies ask
for?
AIDS is now the safest bet for producers of expensive medicines which
never
promise a cure. Till date, not one study conclusively proves anti-viral
drugs even extend life. Bill Gates' $100 million is part of this ruthless
network. His funding touches two dangerous areas: vaccine trials and
anti-AIDS drugs research which both induce random deaths.
Gates will encourage mass-medication in poor communities by touting
a
once-a-day HIV prevention drug. When welcoming his investments, did
India
think about the medical backup needed to tackle drug side effects?
There is no sure test for an AIDS virus because no virus has been identified
yet. Millions of lives are ruined by these tests, though it is medically
undisputed that pregnancy, common cold, prolonged fever, malaria,
tuberculosis and 70 other conditions give false positives on the ELISA
and
confirmatory tests. In 1998, the National Aids Control Organisation
(NACO)
itself wrote on the unreliability of these under many conditions.
Indians and South Asians are told they may carry the HIV virus without
even
knowing it. Is it possible that people know less about their physical
health
than faraway governments?
India acknowledges having 1,77,000 HIV-positive people in 1998-99. If
the
HIV takes six to eight years to turn into AIDS, then at least some
of these
people ought to be dying today. But there are still no visible signs
of an
epidemic. Instead, health indicators show the overall health of people
is
improving, even in the so-called high risk groups.
We reviewed the entire health spectrum in the ³AIDS hotbed²
Manipur, and
found that deaths are lowering there as medical facilities expand and
even
get better.
It is in the US's interest to promote AIDS. In the 70s and 80s, it witnessed
unexpected deaths among the youth. Mystery diseases were discovered
to
explain the deaths. Though no scientific evidence was ever traced,
the
responsibility of pandemics fell on high risk groups. Thanks to the
church
and government, sex workers, the lower strata of society and youth
were
identified as targets. Has anyone examined the social impact of such
targeting in India?
Poorer nations are the worst sufferers of AIDS marketing. We are told
the
resource crunch in Africa is so severe that people cannot afford to
be
tested for AIDS. As a humanitarian gesture, pharma companies provide
AIDS
treatment here, based on symptoms alone. Would America sell AIDS drugs
without prescriptions to its own people?
The CIA says India will have 25 million infected people by 2010, the
maximum
in any country. But India has recorded only 287 AIDS deaths in 1997,
217 in
1998, and 114 in 1999. In whose interest is it to push up these figures?
Only doctors can tell if AIDS and the HIV virus exists or not. If it
does,
then it is everyone's birthright to have details of its prevalence.
The
moment I am allowed to see scientific proof of such a virus, I will
stop
campaigning for my right to know what treatment is being meted out,
where
and to whom. But until then, I will go from person to person.
