HOMEOPATHIC ORGANIZATIONS, COURSES, AND JOURNALS
The following professional organizations for homeopathy offer newsletters,
hold training courses and work to support awareness and knowledge in the
field of homeopathy. I feel it is critical for you to quickly join the
first three organizations, and then more when possible.
- THE ACADEMY OF VETERINARY HOMEOPATHY, 751 N.E. 168th St., N. Miami,
FL 33162 305-652-1590 www.AcadVetHom.org; avh@naturalholistic.com Veterinarians
can be affiliate members until certified as homeopaths. It offers courses,
a journal, referral services, web site, and more. Dr. Pitcairn teaches
a one year training course for veterinarians (20 days total). Contact at

- THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR HOMEOPATHY, 801 North Fairfax Street, Suite
306, Alexandria, VA 22134. 703-548-7790. The largest homeopathic organization
in the US, the NCH publishes a very readable, high-quality monthly news-letter,
"Homeopathy Today", that covers remedies, cases, the politics
of homeopathy, in-depth reports on workshops and fun homeopathic trivia.
Their summer school, has courses for lay and professional homeopaths, appropriate
for any level of knowledge. I teach there.They also publish a directory
of homeopaths in the United States ($5). Loves to receive case reports
on animals.
- THE AMERICAN HOLISTIC VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, 2214 Old Emmorton
Road, Bel Air, MD 21014. 410-569-0795. Their quarterly journal covers an
array of holistic approaches for animals (and people) that includes articles
on homeopathy in almost every issue. As you start to cure animals with
homeopathy, even seemingly simple problems, please write up your cases
and submit them to the journal so we can all share our expertise.
- THE INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR HOMEOPATHY, 2366 Eastlake Avenue,
East, #301, Seattle, WA 98102. 425-776-4147 The IFH is dedicated to the
classical approach to homeopathy (constitutional, single-remedy at a time).
They publish a bi-monthly newsletter, "Resonance", and "Proceedings
of the Professional Case Conferences", that are full of cases and
remedies. They also offer classes for laypeople and professionals, in the
East and West.
- THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR VET HOMEOPATHY, contact Dr. Steve
Tobin, 26 Pleasant Street, Meriden, CT 06450. The IAVH sporadically publishes
a journal entirely of homeopathy used in animals, mostly by veterinarians
throughout Europe, and they sponsor a yearly international conference.
- NEW ENGLAND SCHOOL OF HOMEOPATHY, 356 Middle Street, Amherst, MA 01002.
800-NESH-440. In-depth human courses and the wonderful New England Journal
of Homeopathy.
- HOMEOPATHIC ACAD OF NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIANS, 14653 S. Graves Road,
Mulino, OR 97042. 503-829-7326. They publish the "Simillimum,"
a quarterly journal full of cured cases (mostly in people).
Many COURSES are offered now in homeopathy. Consult with several homeopaths
you respect before choosing one of them. The journals listed above, Healthy
Pets Naturally, and The Whole Dog Journal prints notices of courses. Call
Dr. Chambreau, 410-771-4968 to host or attend courses on animal homeopathy
for professional and lay people. A next step might be my 2 1/2 day overview

and more. You will have a deeper framework of understanding on which to
build and study further.

- Homeopathy: Medicine for the 21st Century-Dana Ullman An overview and
explanation of homeopathy as it is today, and how it can be useful, presented
in an entertaining and accessible way.
- Homeopathic Medicine at Home - M. Panos
- Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines - Dana Ullman Two wonderful
guidebooks on the use of homeopathic remedies for many acute problems.
- The Homeopathic Treatment of Small Animals - Christopher Day
- Homeopathic Treatment for Birds - Beryl Chapman
- Homeopathic Treatment of Horses (also of Cattle, of Goats, of Dogs,
of Cats and Veterinary Materia Medica) - George MacLeod These books can
give you clues as to a few remedies that may be helpful for different diseases.
Then you need to check out the remedies in a good human materia medica
to select the similimum.
